A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

We came here for an Afternoon Tea as a treat before Christmas. You are seated in the same room as the bar. The bar itself is lovely but the room is a little airy and the staff are all quite loud. The Afternoon Tea itself was nothing remarkable especially comparing it to the one I had the week before at Cromlix which was outstanding. The concierge, I think his name was Chuck was very helpful and a credit to the hotel. The bathrooms need a clean + some maintenance done, toilet roll holders falling off wall, chipped doors and unpleasant odours.

Left bags at the hotel and came back later to check in around 3pm. Everything was okay until going to my room and finding a dirty cup and spoon, filthy carpet, filthy coffee machine, marks on sofa and headboard and the most terrible bed. It was lumpy and very soft. I called reception and they moved me. There was no apology for the inconvenience but the concierge was friendly when helping to move me to my new room. The new room was smaller but the mattress was a vast improvement. The snacks and mini fridge had not been stocked and the concierge called housekeeping to stock it. Housekeeping came but apologised for not having any stock! He gave me some items but I asked him to get the items from the previous room as I was just about to have a sp orange. He said he'd speak to that housekeeping but I never heard anything further. Just stupid and annoying service tbh. Anyway, once I cleaned the new coffee machine I was able to make myself a Luke warm coffee. Then headed to the spa and pool which was very nice and clean. There were some gross people filming and taking pictures of other guests for 'content'. I would recommend a no phone policy so privacy invasion is reduced. Room service was quick and very nice. I had a burger and then a chocolate cremeaux which were tasty. I slept well and had an early flight. On check out I was not asked how my stay was. I travel a lot for work and have stayed at many types of places and I would say for the price point, the kimpton blythswood had mixed service and the quality of cleanliness, room finishes and fixings was sub par. Would I return? Only to use the spa and possibly to try the restaurant but not to stay. Once all the basics are covered, the service is key to what a 5* is. I'd say the kimpton achieves 3.5/5 currently.

What a fabulous stay. This trip is just what the doctor ordered. The staff are simply wonderful and honestly could not have done anymore to make my stay absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The entire front of house team, from Kara to Ivo and everyone in between ensured my stay was that bit of Luxury I was so in need of. As promised I shall be back in the new year and very much look forward to my next visit. Best regards to team Blythswood, Merry Christmas and thank you for another wonderful year of hospitality. Best, Jordan.

We stayed here myself and my mum for 1 night recently and I was so disappointed with the sub standard service …. I got married here in 2016 and had a wonderful experience, everything was perfect! We arrived to no doorman, or no offer of help with our luggage. Luckily I had booked this on promotion which when asked at receprion they had nothing on thier system stating the “half boatd” reservation. It was quickly rectified by Chelsea the only member of staff that was lovely and friendly ! The rest looked like they would rather be anywhere else than at work ! Dinner was ok … Breakfast poor choice of buffet and cooked option of “vegan” hash was watery and unplesant ! Room comfortable but tiny ! I’m so glad I booked this on offer as I would have been extremely unhappy if i’d paid full price for 2 star service in this place ! 5 stars, it definetly not. The spa is clearly keeping the star ranking high.

Being greeted and assisted on the front steps by Big David the doorman set the high standard of the staff's attitude. Hotel décor was classy as you would expect. We loved the modern room with real marble bathroom walls and comfortable seating area. The beds were on castors and did give us a couple of unexpected wee trips! I found the pillows far too soft and maybe a choice would be nice. As someone else has mentioned, although it was good to have chocolate biscuits etc, one packet of crisps in a twin room was a bit odd. We had an exceptional, if expensive, dinner however the breakfast was a disappointment. More like a three star hotel. The cooked food on the buffet was no longer hot. Our major gripe and frustration was the restricted hours residents could use the spa including the pools, saunas etc. Early morning and tea time till early evening only. I think in a five star hotel where guests are paying a good deal of money that the spa should be available to them during its opening hours, as should lockers. I've never encountered this before. In the morning we felt rushed to get in a short swim before breakfast closed at 10am. It was a special occasion to celebrate my daughter's birthday and rushing around wasn't something we wanted to include in our day. I have noticed other reviews complaining about this and I do hope the hotel will reconsider its policy.
