About the Hotel

Though South Australia may be revered for its temperate climes, savory fare and fine wine, its capital of Adelaide, surrounded by verdant parklands and the slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges, is even more celebrated as one of the most refined cities on the continent. In this lovely resort town you'll enjoy a relaxing break by the sea at Stamford Grand Adelaide, a superb beachfront landmark that offers elegant accommodations, authentic regional cuisine, a heated outdoor pool and spa, and panoramic views of the coastline and the majestic Adelaide Hills.

Zac at reception will look after you.

Zac at reception was the best. Nothing was too hard for him as he was more than happy to do whatever he could to make my stay as memorable as possible. Such an awesome young guy, who is an asset to the Stamford Grand. The service, location, food, and facilities, all contribute to a really special experience. What special place. Full of Australian history aswell.

Disappointing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My daughter and I recently stayed here for two nights. We booked it on the reviews and pictures on the website. The service was excellent and the staff couldn’t do enough for you but the hotel is very tired and needs a urgent upgrade. Pillows need replacing, curtains didn’t close properly. Air conditioner and fitting’s were old and need upgrading. The pool was nice but the spa very small in size. The hotel states it’s a new pool and spa upgrade so I don’t understand why it’s so small. Offering it to the general public will only make this worse. Disappointed with our stay here. 🤔

The perfect Sunset views

Most unbelievable scenery with the best sunset views. The staff were so friendly and service fabulous. I would highly recommend for a relaxing stay. Minutes from a variety of cafes and restaurants and close to the tram line. Ideal for families and couples.

Didn’t get what I asked for

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Hotel and room a bit old and tired and I asked for a room with a view towards the city and was put in a room with a view of the carpark wall. Room was tired and fittings were poor, shower curtain how 60s, fridge door faulty staff were good and the concierge was very good.

Stamford Grand Glenelg

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The hotel has the outward impression of a very upmarket hotel With friendly and helpful checkin staff And starting from the concierge that helped us,a young man who couldn’t help us enough with transporting our belongings to our balcony room Then after our vacation the older concierge with the curled moustache, was absolutely useless in loading our belongings into the trolley and unloading them at the front door for loading into our car BY ME. However when we went to the pool we found that there were only enough seats for less than 20 people. The pools were filled with kids and there were no seats or seating in the empty north and west facing verandah. The east verandah facing the Adelaide Hills was locked off and being used as a junk room for unused items and pool maintenance items. The service we received in the promenade restaurant was prompt but we were not informed that we had to pay $9.00 for a bottle of water because we didn’t specify table water which was supplied free to other patrons We only found this out when we were incorrectly charged for another patron’s meal and drinks on leaving the premises at checkout The restaurant staff had accepted the incorrect room number from another patron to the restaurant who gave our room number without signing when leaving after their meal Luckily my wife had the receipt for the meal we had paid for on leaving the restaurant and therefore we were not charged for the incorrect logging of a meal by a couple who had a free meal because they didn’t sign for the one they consumed. Next day the bar and dining facilities connected to the Stamford Grand on the entrance from jetty road were not as impressive as we had to find extra chairs, move tables together and go downstairs to the bar to order food and drinks in the daytime with 9 adults and 4 children. Average snacks and slow service for desserts.
