Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach

Before staying at the Sofitel we received a phone call in the morning asking what time we will be arriving?which is odd, but we guessed that it was depending on traffic. Upon arrival we were told by reception their computer was not working, to go to another area to check in. The guy explained our room was not ready until 4pm. I explained i had just had surgery and needed my room, and why did they not tell us when they rung in the morning..his response was that he got busy. I asked if check out is 11am? how come these guests would not leave until after check-in 3pm.... he could not give us an answer. We had paid extra for a spa and view, but wanted to put us in another room until after 4pm. We were meant to get free cheese platter & sparkling wine.. these did not arrive. We did get free parking after I asked for it. We went out for a bit came back & spoke to the same guy & said how we are bending over backwards for the people that should of been out hours ago. Suddenly there was a spa room available. We had a meal on level 3, quite expensive...and the chairs were cracked & old...also the pool was not working, neither was the online room service. Overall there are plenty of nicer updated hotels in Gold Coast that accommodate guests a lot better than the Sofitel did.

Bed bugs alert! The level we stayed on was unclean, damp, and outdated. The sheets did not smell clean however thought maybe it hadn’t been used for awhile. Musty smell, dirty bath and balcony. We did have a one nite stay and enjoyed the location and pool area however the hotel and staff seemed tired. Have never reviewed before but after my son and I had bed bug bites clearly from the room, I would want others to know before deciding to book a stay here.

Check in was friendly and efficient. The classic king room was clean and relatively modern although the bathroom could do with a refurb. Buffet breakfast was okay, agree that the scabby seats significantly cheapens the whole space. I asked concierge to make a dinner reservation and for a specific pillow - neither happened. Dinner average and certainly not worth menu price so was glad to have had my Accor plus discount. My “medium” steak well overcooked, seafood pasta tasted a bit sweet like a tomato soup. Treva and Ester doing their best. Pool area nice when not crowded but entire hotel a little messy during this busy season. May or may not stay again depending on deal.

I came here for a conference and had a wonderful time. The hotel is at the heart of Broadbeach with shops and restaurants nearby. The free shuttle to and from Pacific Fair shopping centre has a stop close to the hotel. I was fortunate to have a large room with balcony. Absolutely beautiful with views of the beach. The hotel room is clean and modern and a fantastic modern bathroom. The daily breakfast buffet at the hotel has a good range of food. For snacks and nibbles there is a Woolworths at the Oasis shopping centre attached to the hotel. The beach is an easy walk from the hotel and the casino is also an easy walk in the opposite direction. Definitely recommend!

Great location, close to restaurants and cafes, walking distance to the beach and just across the road from Pac Fair. The Sofitel is always our first option when travelling to the Gold Coast. The service is excellent with someone always free to help you with your bags. The foyer is lovely and inviting. The lifts are a little slow, but it’s to be expected in a tall building like this one. The gym is okay, but it’s a little cramped and lacks natural light.
