Reviews for Hana-Maui Resort

Book the stay!

Hana-Maui resort was the perfect place to rest and relax following our drive on the road to Hana. The people of Hana are truly special. I recommend this resort to anyone who is considering staying in Hana! Instead of driving to Hana and back the same day, stay here. You won’t regret it!

Relax, you're in paradise

The most relaxing stay we've had in ages. The sunrise from the our own lanai was spectacular. Pool was beautiful with a nice snack bar for drinks and lunch. Lots of activities available, although we chose to do essentially nothing - just enjoy the view.

In need of some Aloha!

Stayed 4 nights Jan 2025 for a long weekend (birthday celebration). This was our first visit to the resort since Hyatt assumed ownership. We stayed in an ocean view bungalow. The resort maintains most of the original vibe. (Weathered wood floors, exposed wood vaulted ceilings, lots of pink 4X4 tile in bathroom, large deck style lanai with loungers) The expansive grounds are well kept and populated by the occasional palm, but lack the variety of tropical foliage typically associated with a resort. I suppose rustic encompasses the overall atmosphere. All completely acceptable for a Mom and Pop budget Hana experience. However, the Hyatt rates are far and above “Mom and Pop” budget rates Our experience was that we were paying for the Hyatt name, but Hyatt wasn’t delivering on the Hyatt experience. Hyatt Destination prides itself on delivering an experience e that conveys the natural beauty in harmony with the surroundings. But does that actually mean neglect? The Hana/Maui Resort needs some aloha! We didn’t experience the typical warm greeting upon arrival with a cool beverage and a lei welcome. The on location restaurant only serves breakfast. (Dinner is offered in the small town center, across the road). The pool area lacks a hot tub, and the pool bar is more like a snack shack with limited, albeit pricey, offerings. We were not expecting amenities such as in room TV, or alarm clock. But we were expecting Hyatt level hospitality. Would we return? We believe Hyatt needs to invest in this particular destination property to elevate it to the expected experience associated with the high end price tag. The property has potential. Maybe they are banking the money from the high rates to later put back into this beautiful property in an exquisite location. Hope so!

For the price I wouldn’t come again

This place is ok. The positives - very friendly staff but throughout. The pool is nice and 24 hours which is rare. The grounds also nice but in need of an update. The main issue with this resort is there is absolutely no food or drink after 8pm which leaves there nothing to do after this time. Understand people come to the area to relax but many arrive later in the evening after a long day sightseeing. There is nothing in the area after this time either. No AC or TV in the room either. Overall fine for 1 night but definitely wouldn’t stay here for a full Hawaii stay

Past its prime

I love this hotel: great staff, lovely plantation style buildings, beautiful location, etc. I visited in 2010 and have long wanted to return. Back then, the hotel looked a little past its best but that was easily overlooked.. 15 years later, it just looks worn out. Whilst everything is scrupulously clean, the mattress in our partial ocean room was lumpy and overly soft, one of the sheets had a hole in it, the bath towels were threadbare and the toilet seat cracked. It's just sad. I hope Hyatt takes things in hand and makes the property worth the price (including the $45 resort fee)
