The pace of life at Centara Hotel Hat Yai practically operates in cadence with a credit card machine – located above the city’s leading Central Department Store, it’s also just around the corner from Gimyong and Santisuk markets, where local goods and fresh produce tumble out of street stalls. Indeed, Hat Yai’s identity is intertwined with commerce. Its proximity to the Malaysian border established it as an important trading post for generations, and there are goods here that can’t be found elsewhere in Thailand. Dining options at Centara also represent a collusion of cultures, and rooms are smartly designed to be respites from Thailand’s fourth largest city.

The bell boy Charat is friendly and helpful. He deliver our luggage to our transport from our hotel room to the van. He is very polite too. When our van arrived, he informed us promptly and help us load our luggage onto the van. Good service rendered.

I recently planned a Christmas holiday with my partner to Hatyai and chose to stay at Centra Hatyai, a reputable hotel known for its convenient location and service. Overall, our stay had its highlights and a few areas for improvement. Arrival and Check-In: We booked the hotel’s arrival car service, which appeared to be managed by a contractor. The car, a Toyota Camry, was decent but basic. The service was straightforward—meet, greet, and drop-off—but lacked the polish of a premium experience. In hindsight, booking a Grab Plus might have been a better option for a more comfortable ride. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hotel concierge team. Mr. Charat, in particular, was exceptionally helpful, assisting with our bags and ensuring a seamless check-in process. Despite the hotel being at full occupancy due to the holiday season, we received our room immediately and were impressed by the efficiency of the staff. Room and Facilities: We stayed on the top floor (level 20) in a Superior Studio King room. The room was spacious and included a kitchenette, but the design felt dated, reminiscent of the 1980s, and was in need of a refresh. The bed was also old, which made sleeping challenging; we managed only 3-4 hours of rest each night. Navigating the hotel during peak occupancy was a challenge, as only two lifts were operational. To access the top floor, we had to change lifts at level 18 and use a smaller, private lift to reach levels 19 and 20. This added a bit of inconvenience, especially during busy periods. On a positive note, the housekeeping team on level 20 was prompt and attentive, accommodating our laundry requests and providing a variety of pillows to enhance our comfort. Dining Experiences: We tried both the breakfast and the Japanese buffet offered at the hotel. While the breakfast was adequate, the Japanese buffet was the clear winner. The food was delicious, particularly the pan-fried fish prepared fresh and served hot by the chef. The team was incredibly attentive, ensuring all our requests were met promptly. We also have on the house happy hours drinks from 5pm to 8pm at our stay, drinks were nice and the lounge amenties is simple. Spa Experience: The highlight of our trip was the 120-minute spa treatment at Cense Spa. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist, Popcorn, whose friendliness and thorough explanations of the treatments set the tone for a wonderful experience. Our therapists, Mabel and Homee, were exceptional. Mabel’s neck massage relieved weeks of tension for me, while my partner found himself so relaxed during his session with Homee that he fell asleep. The spa’s ambiance was beautifully designed, offering a level of comfort that surpassed even our room. This experience was so rejuvenating that it’s a compelling reason for us to return to Hatyai. Location: The hotel’s prime location near Lee Garden’s night market was a major advantage. Starting at around 4 PM, the market comes alive with street vendors offering a vibrant mix of food, shopping, and activities. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone staying in the area. Gratitude: A special thank you to the Centra Hatyai team who made our stay memorable: Mr. Charat for managing our bags and providing excellent service during arrival and departure. The housekeeping team on level 20 for their prompt and attentive care. The Cense Spa team: Popcorn, Mabel, and Homee, for delivering an outstanding spa experience. Final Thoughts: While the hotel has room for improvement, particularly in updating its facilities and addressing lift efficiency, the exceptional service, dining, and spa experience made our stay worthwhile. We look forward to returning to Hatyai, with Cense Spa being a major draw for our next visit.

The location of Centara Hat Yai is amazing as it’s close to a lot of food venues, also places to shop and massage parlors. Everything was walking distance. The rooms were clean and spacious. We had the buffet breakfast at the hotel and the spread was quite good. The hotel is JAKIM certified there the food is Halal. There is also a lounge with live entertainment for guests to sit and enjoy while you take a sip of their cocktails. Will definitely come again and stay here.
