Mangapapa is a beautiful property, with lovely rose gardens. Very quiet and bucolic, sheep included. If you are looking for a low-key. relaxing place, this is for you. Dinner is offered as either 3 or 5 courses, one choice of main course, as it is not a huge hotel. The food was delicious and served with style. There are additional restaurants nearby. Breakfast every morning including buffet (with all fresh fruit, one of the few places that had no canned fruit on the buffet) and hot items from the menu. You don't come here to play tennis as the net is sagging and there are no markings on the grass. But the hot tub in the same building as the gym was lovely - and we had it all to ourselves every day of the 4 nights we stayed there.

Fantastic place to stay. The hotel has a wonderful grand, historic feel. Our room was very comfortable and well set up. Lovely linen and bathroom products. And the house made biscuits were a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed super relaxing massages and if it was warmer would have taken a dip in the pool. There’s also a spa and sauna. We had the 5 course dinner which was delicious and excellent value for money. We particularly enjoyed the lamb which was very high quality. Large wine menu too. There were lots of breakfast options (included in the price) and it was also lovely and well presented. The staff were very friendly, professional and welcoming. We throughly enjoyed our stay at Managpapa Hotel and highly recommend it.

This is a very good hotel out in the middle of farms and vineyards. We spent 2 nights here, our room was excellent, spacious with a balcony looking over the well tended gardens, including a rose garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good, we didn’t have the evening meal as we drove to Havelock North, but the menu looked very good and they have their own wine range.

Wee were blown away when we entered this hotel, it waslike a stately home here we were honoured guests. At check-in, nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasurable experience. The spa was made ready just for us, with towels and water being brought specially. Our room was hugely comfy, with lots of space and everything we might need. We ate in the restaurant, a fixed menu which was adjusted for dietary needs. It was truly excellent food, very fresh and imaginative. Breakfast felt very individual, we were well looked after by a charming waitress.

The hotel feels like staying in a friend’s lovely country house. We stayed in the Macon suite which was very spacious and tastefully decorated with a separate lounge area and an enormous comfortable bed. The bathroom is great with a wonderful deep bathtub and separate shower. The grounds of the hotel are serene and picturesque and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah of the main building taking in the sunshine. Dinner and breakfast were generous and delicious. Service could not be faulted. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.
