An unforgettable night

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

A place that will forever remain in my heart. My fiancé made a surprise reservation here for us to propose to me. I spent an unforgettable night in this hotel. Not only because of the marriage proposal, but also for the attention to all the details of our stay, which made it perfect from start to finish. We had a great time, the staff is kind and helpful (they arranged the surprise for the proposal in our room while we were at dinner), the food we had, at dinner and breakfast, was delicious. One of the best we have ever tasted in Iceland (and this was our third trip to this wonderful country). The best part, however, was undoubtedly the Iceland-themed suite, which my fiancé chose for this special occasion. Very beautiful and with every comfort. We will definitely go back there to celebrate our anniversary in the future. Thank you to the Rangá hotel and all the staff: you made an unforgettable day even more special! <3

Great small unique hotel

Stayed here to see the northern lights as a solo traveler trying to complete some bucket list items and because of the location near South coast attractions. The seasonal room package offered by the hotel was a great value. The standard room was perfect for my accomdation on this solo trip, and honestly looked much better in person. The room pictures for the standard option look a bit out-dated but I was impressed in person and everything is extremely spotless. The hotel is rustic but very charming. The room amenities were great including a towel heater, robe/slippers, nespresso machine, large wardrobe, and desk with seating chair. The door to the outside patio was a bit tricky to unlock and I had some issues setting the bathtub water temperature, but the receptionist kindly went to my room with me and showed me how to get work everything. I thought the service here in general was very good. Everyone here was very polite and helpful whenever I needed assistance. Aleksandra with reception also was especially great booking all the tours and private transport I needed via email before my trip, which I thought was a huge benefit of staying at this hotel considering I’m a solo traveler. Having everything coordinated for me so tranparently and punctually really made my stay memorable. All the tours and transport booked by the hotel were also excellent and perfect for what I wanted to do, plus Aleksandra gave me a few recommendations that I went along with and really appreciated. Once at the hotel the staff also was very attentive with any questions about excursions and alerting guests about Northern Lights activity (you could also request a wake up call which worked well). The complimentary snowsuits to go outside quickly and see the lights comfortably also were a nice touch. Additionally, the outdoor hot tubs were a nice bonus and I got to use one when the northern lights appeared, which was once in a lifetime experience. The main draw to me for this hotel was honestly how incredible the food was. I really impressed with the included breakfast - you get a hot option in an addition to a very diverse buffet selection that was very filling. The espresso machine was nice too.The restaurant is excellent for dinner and I ate there my entire stay. The mushroom soup/mushroom risotto were especially noteworthy. The owner working the host stand and introducing himself was welcoming. Overall this is a lovely hotel to stay for more reasons than the northern lights!

Most Amazing Vacation

We stayed at Hotel Rangà while visiting Iceland for the first time and it was the most amazing experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was great and we got to see the aurora borealis on our first night there. We can’t wait to go back.

best hotel we've stayed at

An amazing way to spend New Years Eve! I had booked Hotel Ranga almost 10 months ahead of our trip to surprise my husband for his birthday. I read that it was the best place to experience the Northern Lights. We knew nothing is every guaranteed in terms of sighting but I loved all the reviews and a friend recently also stayed there and raved about it. We stayed for three nights and we had a great experience throughout. Caveat it is a pricey experience, including the meals, but everything in Iceland is. However the food in their restaurant was top notch and the service from the staff was A+. They upgraded our room upon arrival so that was a nice surprise. For New Years Eve, we had the most brilliant Northern Lights show (how timely of Mother Nature haha), in addition to a fireworks show from the hotel. They also hosted a midnight toast. All the little touches helped make our stay truly special!

Great Stay in Iceland

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The onsite restaurant served excellent food. I appreciated that the breakfast was generous and was included in the cost of the stay. The drinks and cocktails were well crafted. Above all, the stay was made memorable by the staff (Gabriella, Aleksandra, and the lovely Icelandic lady with the gray Lopapeysa sweater), all of whom were attentive and welcoming. It was especially nice to make the acquaintance of Fredirik (the owner), an interesting and pleasant man whom one might find seating guests. Fredirik takes pride in his hotel and makes one feel at home.
