Reviews for Hotel St. George

Great disappointment for my daughter.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We were at that hotel during Christmas holiday 2024. We had preferred that property for two reasons: 1) Spa and pool 2) in order not to have heating problems( Most of Scandinavian hotels are famous for freezing temperatures) Hotel itself is modern and luxurious, with great breakfast and food amenities. However we became shocked when we visited the spa: 1) Our 12 years old daughter are not allowed to enter , because there was age limit of 16 .2) Anyway second shock was pool….it was not pool only an puddle that is for ducklings .we were fooled by the photo in the web slte. In the middle of winter , why visits one Helsinki? For sauna and pool. That was a great disappointment for my daughter and us. It is hard to understand age limit. It defies all logic and international standards. Has the hotel right to put age limit arbitrarily? for example persons over 70 years of age are not allowed to stay in our hotel , Rules are rules. I don’t think so.I will make a complaint to an international institution about that.

Had the pleasure to experience great weekend at this hotel. Suggest to try cocktails and food paring at the Wintergarden and admire the beautiful art & design. Spa is great place to relax. Rooms are tranquil and full with nice finishing touches. Breakfast offers quality items and super service.

Central Elegant Location

We visited this location late, November. Although chilly, the location was warm and elegant. We were warmly greeted at the reception area and offered an upgrade for Marriott platinum. The welcome benefits were explained to us, but I was a little confused about the breakfast option. The next day when we did go to breakfast, we did receive a bill but I think it might’ve been 50% off. The room and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and elegant. Soft, warm neutrals. The bed and linens were very comfortable. There was almost zero ambient light during the evening hours while we are sleeping, which I appreciate. Minimal street noise with the double paned windows. Lovely in room amenities, including a deep soaking tub, Japanese style bidet toilet. As well as other personal amenities and shampoo, etc. The attached bakery is also wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and had plenty of healthy options as well as cooked to order omelette and eggs. Service was very busy. Overall, the service was great in the hotel. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. We did not visit the spa or pool area and wish that we had.

Handsome. Modern.

We had a stopover in Helsinki for a few days and cashed in some points for a room here. We were in a small, yet cozy, interior facing room. Not the ideal view of course, but not a deal breaker by any means - especially for afternoon naps. Gorgeous room. Loved the well integrated and customizable lighting. The bed was supremely comfortable. The bathroom was expansive and there was good closet space. I will echo one of the cranky reviews that the desk was small, but we were on holiday so it didn't matter. It'd be a tight fit if you were traveling for work and getting things done. The front desk staff was exceedingly warm and welcoming. The bakery on the ground floor is busy but a great spot to have close by. Great central location! We didn't do much else apart from sleep so can't review the sauna or spa or bar or restaurant.
