The Marine

The location of this hotel is superb. Nestled above the cliff walk the views are amazing. It is truly beautiful. It has a classic feel of a bygone time. The location is very near some excellent restaurants (Chard). If you are staying in Hermanus I'd recommend this for sure.

The bed was shot and I left with severe back ache . Despite imploring them to change the mattress they tried to firm it up by inserting planks with a topper on top . Ridiculous. I went to the spa for a massage asked for sports massage and ended up paying R 1400 for a terrible tickle . Albeit it was advertised as their 5 star massage . I complained but they just ignored me and didn’t offer to sort it out . Same as the mattress no mention of a change in actual mattress .

Our second stay at the Marine Hotel, this time for a full week. We were welcomed by Melissa, the General Manager and her staff. Our room (230) had a comfortable and beautifully decorated bedroom, a small sitting room with couch, table, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar stocked with goodies. The room had a nice sea view (no whales at this time of year) and on the grass we could see birds, dassies and mongoose. Breakfast is taken in the Pavilion restaurant and there is a very good selection of cold food and hot specialities to order. The whole hotel has an air of elegance, the pool area is lovely with a heated pool (a couple of stair ladders would make it easier for older and less agile people to get in and out) and there is a gym and spa. It is only a couple of minutes into Hermanus town where there is a wide choice of restaurants, shops and amenities. We are already looking forward to another stay and highly recommend the Marine.

Exceptional Experience at The Marine at Hermanus! Our stay at The Marine was absolutely unforgettable. The location on the sea front is simply spectacular, offering breathtaking views right from our bedroom window. We were incredibly fortunate to witness whales from the comfort of our room, an experience we will cherish forever. The welcome we received was warm and inviting, setting the tone for a delightful stay. The staff's friendliness and attention to detail made us feel valued and well cared for throughout our visit. One of the highlights was the lovely afternoon tea. The selection of teas and delectable treats provided a perfect midday indulgence, enjoyed in such a beautiful setting. Overall, The Marine at Hermanus exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended for an exceptional and memorable stay!

The Marine Hotel is the Best hotel in Hermanus, hands down. The best part of The Marine Hotel is the customer service that truly goes above and beyond to make the guest feel welcome and special. It is in the perfect location, in the heart of the Hermanus and on the cliff path, very secure, huge rooms with the best views of the water, and the best, most accommodating service! This hotel is a must stay while in Hermanus. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The breakfast was phenomenal. The treatment even better! A very special thank you to the most amazing Hlumela, who was beyond helpful in making our stay the best, as well as Patrick and Heloise, who showed phenomenal customer service and care. The care and attention provided made us want to return and stay at The Marine anytime we’re in Hermanus. You will not regret choosing to stay at The Marine Hotel! Also, we saw whales from our room!!!
