Reviews for Sopwell House

Good, sadly not excellent

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Mainly good, some room for improvement... Stayed for three days with my husband for our wedding anniversary, in No 1 Magnolia suite. The facilities, staff and food are undisputedly all top notch. We enjoyed the spa, bars, restaurants and were made to feel really welcome and well looked after. Grounds are gorgeous and this is a must visit. Some downers (sadly) ruined the five star experience for us. Firstly, we couldn’t use the main bar on our first night due to a business conference it was ‘closed to (paying) guests’. Secondly, we had checked ahead if we could use the facilities on day of checkout and were told we could but this turned out to be ‘up until checkout at 1100’. When paying the (premium club) price this is poor. And finally, the front room/snug of our ‘home from home’ had a bee problem, nest(?) around the window making that space completely unusable. Not really good enough for this luxury experience. All in all a lovely stay and genuinely wish we could have given five stars as all the team we met were lovely and trying their best to achieve PoB standard.

December spa day

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I spent a day solo at the spa. I thought it might not be as good in the winter but the outdoor hydro pools are very well heated still. The club spa is beautiful. All the staff were incredible - treatments with Maureen and Amy were excellent. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Excellent customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We went for afternoon tea with my team from work. There was a mix up with the semi-private room booking but the team at Sopwell responded so brilliantly. They very clearly had customer service at the heart of what they do and got it sorted very smoothly. The afternoon tea was luxurious and everything tasted delicious. They had captured our dietary requirements. The surroundings are also beautiful.

Lovely place for a romantic getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Had a lovely stay, the Club area of the Spa was fab, loved that we could order drinks to our loungers! Delicious cocktails and the food in Omboo was fantastic. Our room was really comfy and we both slept very well. There were a few issues that arose whilst we were there but the manager dealt with this superbly. Can highly recommend!

Fantastic venue

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We came here for a wedding and what a fantastic venue it was. The staff were great, there was never any empty drinks. The catered food was delicious too, it couldn’t be faulted. The wedding venue itself was great, plenty of room for all the tables and a big dance floor for the evening. Unfortunately I didn’t get to experience the hotel and spa but will definitely revisit one day
