The resort is currently under major construction until April 2025. The whole first floor and lobby are unavailable. The hot tub is closed for the season. There is construction next to the pool with jack hammers in use all day. The rooms were a bit outdated but beds were comfortable and rooms were soundproof. With all that said we made the best of our 2 night midweek stay by walking the beach and visiting other nearby areas for shopping and dining. Its possible that weekends are quieter by the pool, we checked out Friday morning and it seemed quieter. I’m sure the renovations will be beautiful when complete. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

While it was a very pretty resort with courteous staff, I had a couple of issues despite being there only one night. - When checking in, the staff didn’t give us a “lay of the land” and what was available to do. It would have been helpful to know about beach access, pool hours, towels, chairs, etc. - in my 35 years of travel, I’ve never had an allergic reaction in a hotel room like I had at this Sonesta. The fragrance seems to be pumped through the HVAC and I was terribly allergic to it. I was on the 4th floor and I don’t know what difference it may make, but this was a crazy experience. I guess it is just personal sensitivity, but again this is the first time I ever experienced this. If you are sensitive to fragrances, it may be worth checking in advance to see if there’s any way around that. - the shower was barely more than a drip. If I was there more than one night, I would have contacted the front desk.

You need to check the status of the refurbishments. Will be great when finished but in the meantime did not suit us for our end of vacation treat so we checked out immediately. The reception staff offered us a full refund. The first /ground floor is completely unusable; restaurant space moved to 2nd floor and cramped; no gym; lots of plastic partitions are evidence that building works are going on around you. Recommend you call the hotel to find out what to expect.

This was the most accommodating resort and hotel team I've ever experienced. We were evacuating from Southwest Florida to escape the path of Hurricane Milton and as we drove and drove it became challenging to find a hotel because we were obviously not the only ones evacuating. From the moment I initially spoke to Samira on the phone that evening, to the moment we checked out, every single person was so understanding, kind and helpful. Samira was so resourceful for us, going above and beyond. And, I also want to really thank Kelsey, one of the managers. She also went above and beyond to be helpful, kind, resourceful and accommodating. I will always remember this experience in a moment of confusion and uncertainty for our family with the Hurricane, and they truly eased a big portion of the concern when we were trying to find a safe place for our family to be. Not to mention, the amenities/pool and easy access to the beautiful ocean really lightened the emotional load with fun things to do with our kids. Oh, and they welcome pets! Which is a whole other benefit when evacuating with a dog.

Traveled to this venue for a work conference. The rooms and meeting rooms were spacious. There’s an in-house restaurant on site as well as one by the pool. The pool has several activities. There’s away access to the beach. This was a nice resort.

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
