INCREDIBLE HOSPITALITY when we really needed it (Evacuating from Hurricane Milton)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This was the most accommodating resort and hotel team I've ever experienced. We were evacuating from Southwest Florida to escape the path of Hurricane Milton and as we drove and drove it became challenging to find a hotel because we were obviously not the only ones evacuating. From the moment I initially spoke to Samira on the phone that evening, to the moment we checked out, every single person was so understanding, kind and helpful. Samira was so resourceful for us, going above and beyond. And, I also want to really thank Kelsey, one of the managers. She also went above and beyond to be helpful, kind, resourceful and accommodating. I will always remember this experience in a moment of confusion and uncertainty for our family with the Hurricane, and they truly eased a big portion of the concern when we were trying to find a safe place for our family to be. Not to mention, the amenities/pool and easy access to the beautiful ocean really lightened the emotional load with fun things to do with our kids. Oh, and they welcome pets! Which is a whole other benefit when evacuating with a dog.

Great for conferences.

Traveled to this venue for a work conference. The rooms and meeting rooms were spacious. There’s an in-house restaurant on site as well as one by the pool. The pool has several activities. There’s away access to the beach. This was a nice resort.

enjoyable stay.

I really liked the hotel. The rooms were recently updated and the bed was great. The lobby and restaurants were well maintained and updated. You can tell this is an older hotel that recently went through and update. The one area that did not get updated was the gym, it is old and smelly but gets the job done. Really easy walk to the beach, . The hotel food was good, I had breakfast and a burger from the hotel so if you don't want to go out you can make do with the food on site.

Home Away from Home - Hurriane Helene

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I don’t know how to put into words how grateful my family and I are for the entire staff at Sonesta Hilton Head. Our family of five, plus our dogs, my mom and her dogs were displaced by hurricane Helene. We checked in on Friday, September 27th and were finally able to check out on October 7th and head home! From the moment we checked in on Friday, Vanessa, Michael, and the rest of the staff have been phenomenal and have gone above and beyond to make Sonesta feel like home. It is such a stress not knowing when you will be able to return home, especially with small children & pets who depend on you. We have at least found peace here at Sonesta without additional worry/stress. Everyone at the front desk was extremely patient with me & all my questions and each time I need to extend out stay. The housekeeping team is top notch, especially Reece - who took extra care of us and made sure we always had what we needed! If you see this Sonesta Hilton Head team, please know you have seriously touched our hearts with your generosity and kindness. We are forever grateful for you!

Nice But Outdated Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The Sonesta was a very nice resort for our 2 day trip to Hilton Head. Nestled away in the Shipyard community, this resort was a great mix of beachside & poolside relaxation for all guests. There were 3 restaurants on the property, each equipped for solid food options throughout your stay. The staff overall was phenomenal & attentive to all needs of their patrons. The room itself was recently remodeled outside of the shower/tub which was very worn down. It seemed like an oversight by the remodeler who modernized all other pieces within the room. The property lobby was very nice with a great bar area and plenty of seating. The pool was very nice & the resort even had an adult pool option. However its location was less than ideal tucked underneath part of the building facing a parking lot vs the “lagoon”/beach. The property provided tons of activities for the family, including beach chair rentals, bikes, and sporting equipment for a day on the sand. There was a quaint set of fire pits as well which were used each evening by guests.

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
