The hotel is doing the best with what they have, lack of alcohol items, constant Wifi interruptions, difficulty to reserve a specialty restaurant, minimal room service, closing buffet hours before the actual displayed hours, lack of activities during the day and the night

We just returned from Paradisus Rio De Oro. The facilities are beautiful with large high ceilinged rooms and balconies. The rooms and grounds were kept in beautiful shape. We tried three a la carte restaurants including International, Cuban and Mediterranean. The food was OK but not exceptional. we expected this considering the current situation in Cuba. Room maid service, bar service as well as service in the buffet and restaurants was exceptional. The beach and pool was excellent. Power outage was not an issue; we briefly lost power for a minute but the generators kicked in and we were OK. Overall a very nice experience, we would consider returning again to this resort.

We absolutely loved our stay at this resort! It had a laid-back, tranquil atmosphere that stood out compared to other resorts we've visited. If you're seeking a lively, party-centric vibe, this might not be the best fit—but for relaxation, it’s perfect. The staff were exceptional—every single person we met was warm, friendly, and genuinely kind. As for the food, it was decent, but we’d suggest packing some hot sauce to give the dishes an extra kick of flavour!

My husband and I just came back from a week at this resort (Nov 9-16) and I only have great things to share. I booked this trip Oct. 16 and then on the 18th all the electrical grid issues and hurricanes were happening. We had been to Cuba several times before COVID and knew that the Cuban people and resorts already faced challenges so we lowered our expectations even more. I have to say that this was our best experience in Cuba and this resort was exceptional on so many levels. Property: The property was beautiful with all the amazing greenery. The beach was stunning and the ocean was fantastic for swimming and snorkeling. Lots of palapas and chairs. The snorkeling excursion boat makes one of its stops right in front of the property. The pool was great and the gym is decent for any fitness fanatics. The equipment is old but we were able to get our workouts in every day. Restaurants and Food: The buffet, snack bar and a la carte restaurants are kept immaculate and the selection, taste and quality are defenitely not lacking. This is the best food we have ever had in Cuba. The staff are amazing too! My husband cannot eat gluten or dairy and they were very careful that they checked ingredients for him. Note he is not celiac but is allergic. The only thing we brought with us were two loaves of GF bread because we know it is usually impossible to find in many countires. Rooms: The rooms are large, always super clean and the air conditioning was great. There was hot water which we have had experiences at other resorts where that wasn't always the case. Activities and Entertainment: You can be as busy or as lazy as you want to be. There are lots of daily activities that the staff organize. The evening entertainment was fine. I personally enjoyed many of the singers/musicians before the main evening entertainment. The main shows were hit or miss but the staff definitely work hard to ensure you are kept happy and relaxed. I would totally recommend this resort and we are definitely considering going back. In fact, the majority of the people we met were repeat customers. Considering the price to go here then I would say it is second to none.

This was a "Scouting" mission for my brother and I looking for a laid back (not so busy) and upper-scale adults only resort. Within 1/2 hr of arriving I was texting my wife saying this was THE SPOT we could make our yearly escape to!! We had a junior suite and though a bit dated it was nice and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! The staff were all so friendly and helpful and their attitude always seemed sincere. I have been trying to call the resort now (Nov. '24) but their phone # comes back as not in service? Same luck with the email address - want to book a return trip for this winter and would appreciate a response from management with a working phone # please :-)
