JW Marriott Houston Downtown

The hotel was very nice and modern. Very spacious, clean, and bright room. With a separate shower and bathtub. Service was good throughout the hotel. We really liked the location, close to many restaurants and bars. You are walking distance from the baseball stadium. Unfortunately, I had to deduct a full star because of the breakfast problems and the really poor execution of dishes at the restaurant. The breakfast buffet is very limited for a supposedly upscale hotel. Also, it was extremely crowded, and they ran out of plates and cutlery. Overall, some service and table areas were very dirty. They were lacking staff. Needless to say, after our first experience, we never came back and ended up having breakfast outside for the rest of our stay. At the restaurant/bar, the cocktails were very good but the food again was terrible. We ordered the tuna tatar and it tasted stale and bad. We had to leave it. Same story with the mahi mahi tacos dry and tasting like cardboard. For us food is very important so we definitely would not go back to this hotel because of that.

Great hotel, stay here regularly. Bonvoy member. Service is quick and rooms are week cared for. Be aware that there is construction going on now, with hammer drills vibrating the entire building from 7 AM. No warning of course. Shame, Marriott.

We love Marriott hotels but this hotel in downtown Houston is by far the best. The attention to every detail from when you walk in the door was amazing. We really enjoyed the restaurant and bar. Andrew Gallaher came by and so delightful. He was checking on us to make sure we had what we needed, and that the food was good. My husband was really impressed by his knowledge of the wines and cocktails. Our experience here was fabulous. I’m looking forward to our next trip now back to Houston.

My stay felt like home away from home. I was greeted and treated very well. I would like to recognize an employee Mario. He treated me with so much respect and gratitude. He helped with any accommodations if i needed them. I will definitely be back.

Very amazing, hospital staff! Michelle greeted us instantly at the front desk when we checked in. She was a delight, welcoming us on Christmas Day. Each day we were shuttled via their complimentary shuttling service. Drivers Logan and George took good care of us, driving us to various venues such as dinner at McCormick & Schmick's, ticks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Toyota Center, and our experience at Meow Wolf. Logan was great at suggesting many different spots in the downtown area. The staff in the downstairs bar was very friendly. The club lounge also had some of the greatest people daily, serving a very indulging breakfast. The omelet station was a definite plus! I highly recommend this hotel. JW Marriott rarely disappoints, just in general.
