Built in the style of an ancient Thai village, Anantara Resort & Spa Hua Hin is a fine reflection of the town’s royal roots. In the 1920s, Rama VI and Rama VII built summer residences here to escape Bangkok’s stifling heat, and it’s still a seaside destination for aristocracy. Anantara’s interpretation is embellished with rich hardwoods, Thai silks and private balconies or terraces where guests can preside in peace over their exotic terrain.

Avoid this place at all cost, unless you want to stay in a construction site. As a local, I visited Hua Hin many times. I booked a stay at this hotel 1 month ago, and was told that the construction would be over 2 weeks before my stay. Even now, the hotel website listed renovation to be finished yesterday, which is definitely not true. I also heard that more and more renovations in other areas (pool etc) are upcoming throughout 2025. A new restaurant is being built on the beachfront lawn, a focal point of the hotel. A staff told me that the construction is delayed, and there was no communication about this delay. The structure is not even finished. They just started working on the upper floor. Some construction materials are lying around in other parts of the hotel, and workers are digging trench along the beachfront area. The construction site is partially covered where you can hear and see the mess perfectly. You also have to walk along a road to the gym, sharing paths with construction pickup trucks. The gym is also worn out. The staffs are friendly but you can feel their lack of confidence in the hotel. They did their best but they have no power to rectify things. I paid for a club junior suite lagoon and received room upgrade due to my GHA Discovery Titanium status. The room itself was recently renovated. The alarm was pre-set to wake me up at 6am despite removing its power cord before bed. Even after the renovation finishes in 2027+, I felt that you will receive a better value for money for the room and the club elsewhere in Hua Hin.

This resort pays attention to detail! From the luxurious, thick, super absorbent bath and hand towels, to smaller wash cloths which many Asian hotels never provide, to the coated drain cover in the toilet which prevents corrosion of it, to the composite tarrazo type shower walls and the back tile with pristine white grout, lighted closet, mosquito coil and matches for evenings on the patio or veranda, the Thai style architecture, statues, landscaping, gardens, flowers, orchids, and bountiful breakfast buffet, all that you look at is first-rate! Yes, we read about the renovation project and saw a few negative reviews, but we are the type who bring ear plugs or wear ear buds for watching videos. The noise was not offensive or too loud AND OUR SEAVIEW UNIT was NEXT to the renovations! We did NOT have to wear the ear buds or ear plugs because the surf sounds of the sea blocked that noise out. Our entire stay was romantic, pleasant, and the staff and management added to our enjoyment. All were kind, helpful, cheerful, and when we spoke our " baby Thai " were patient and sweet. We live as expats in Chiang Mai and we do staycations nearly every month around Chiang Mai province. This Anantara is spectacular. We have always enjoy the Chiang Mai Anantara and Thailand has many Thai style hotels and resorts that give you the special feeling of being transported in time. Hua Hin Anantara does exactly that with glorious architecture, fine rooms, and comfortable mattresses and we found NOTHING negative we could say about this resort at all! The spa is wonderful. The restaurants have reasonably priced food for being a 5 star resort. Twice we had meals on our patio. The grilled seafood platter for two was very generous with king prawns, mussels, scallops, a whole sea bass perfectly succulent, and squid (I do not eat squid, but my husband enjoyed it). A small salad and garlic rice came with it. My husband used the hotel app to communicate, order food, etc. and it worked very well. The swimming pool is lovely but we chose to be by our unit at the sea. The lounge chairs in this area all have umbrellas and you can reposition them easily in the shade. Staff bring free cold fruit on skewers in the afternoon. The resort has a rescued blue macaw "Rocky" at its entrance, read the sign and do not feed him or pet him. He gets a lot of exercise and activity. I mentioned attention to detail:they employ a trainer with a falcon hawk to deter pigeons. Just the sight of this hawk keeps pigeons away from trying to steal food or walk around your feet at the restaurant. You may not even see the bird yourself, but humans do not have bird vision. We had the best stay at this resort and made many memories. They have a shuttle van to take you to the clock tower and to the mall. They have a gym, yoga, tennis courts, spa with excellently trained masseuses and an area around a lagoon with special villas at an appropriate charge. This property is expansive and well-maintained.

This hotel took our reservation without disclosing ongoing construction works to our travel agent despite knowing the room type we had booked would be directly affected. From the moment we arrived the stay was stressful and not in any way the relaxing stay we had anticipated

Had a fantastic trip in Hua Hin. We enjoyed our stay at Anantara which is a beautiful resort. 5 star resort which will not give you a reason to leave. Only negative was the construction work going on in front of our sea facing room.
