Reviews for Movenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin

More than a pleasant surprise .

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

As a loyal Accor Member, I tend to look for their properties as i generally know what to expect from their brands. I didn’t want a huge beachside resort, but sometime more boutique . I must say I was more than pleasantly surprised. With most rooms being a 1 bedroom private pool villa with all the appropriate facilities. And I don’t mind the older fashioned Thai decor a pleasant change from the atypical rooms many hotels offer. The main focus of the hotel was the beachfront aspect with all dining facilities with a beach view. 2 generous pools , a clean blue water beach and pristine white sand. I enjoyed a number of cocktails and quality food servings during my stay. Staff were very attentive and helpful. For my first visit to Hua Hin the hotel offers 3 shuttle services per day to visit the centre of the town, although the Hotel had enough for me to enjoy. I’m seriously considering re-booking the property for my next trip to Thailand in September. Far less busy than Phuket and Pattaya. Highly recommended.

Amazing well established resort !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Ok. I really wanted to give this resort a rating of 5 but there are just a few small things to fix up. Firstly I want to thank Paul and his team That I interacted with daily, Joey, Ning, Sumit, Sa, Sandee, Kenta, Keng, Time, Dang, Dream, Nook and the team at the Spa. All these staff Members went out of there way to make sure I was looked after especially Joey who adds a great energy to this place and also Kenta who is on an internship, he is so nice and friendly. The room, Villa 123 , with pool was great, checkin was smooth and easy, breakfast was great (don’t listen to the other reviews, it’s excellent. I also had room service and lunch and all food was really good. The resort is well maintained , it’s established with great greenery and has the settled in look which I prefer over brand new. Now here are the couple of items you need to know, there is no beach (trust me) so you have to use the pools and that in itself causes a little issue with the sunbeds! There is not enough and guests abuse the towel on the bed and go missing for 4 hours! Apparently there is someone that manages outside but I did not see her once, this is your job to manage: one sign in the most stupid location will not work and who Is managing it! The talk of the resort even as I am Leaving now is the sunbeds and how badly you manage it. So whoever is the manager of pools / outside get leading and get out there to see the problem. I know this falls to Paul overall so Paul maybe make one of the F&B, pool/bed/towel lead like other resorts do, if you want to compete with those others then you have to implement more than a chalk board sign ( actually maybe have 3, 1 at each entrance to the outdoor area) Anyway I loved it just with a couple of nuances to Fix! Cheers for the warm welcome !

Would highly recommend! Lovely pool with beach view, quiet location and all facilities needed on site. Most importantly, friendly helpful staff and they are willing go beyond. Large room suite with coffee machine. Great room service options. Spa was a nice bonus and gym was well equipped. Merci French GM Paul made sure we were look after. 😘

Beautiful Green Property

The resort was great with many facilities and the private pool villa was wonderful. Both the room and and bathroom were big and spacious. The private pool is big enough and it has a nice garden to sit at. The spa treatment was good with a private room for a couples. Both the thai and western restaurants were delicious. The French General Manager Paul made sure we were looked after 😊. Kudos to Movenpick Asara Hua Hin.

Spacious Rooms but Poor Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Hua Hin is our favorite place for a short break. While we usually stay at 5 star hotels more mid town, we stayed here for the first time as recommended by a friend who was here at Christmas. It turned out to be the most memorable one in a disappointing way. The Positive: The property offers suites & villas. We didn't get the King size bed room that we booked, but the suites was spacious, clean and well maintained albeit the fixtures looked old. There were 2 pools, one next to the beach and 1 smaller one inside the suites area. The property is quite tranquil though there were families with young children. Breakfast wasn't lavish but covered quite a good selection, and tasty as well. The Thai restaurant Baan Dum inside the hotel has been our must-visit place in Hua Hin, food was delicious & service was pleasant. The Negative: The overall service was so far the worst we've had in HH. While a couple of the senior mgt staff greeted us warmly while we strolled around the property, almost all the staff we encountered during these 2 nights stay were rude, unpleasant, not willing to serve and not even a smile on their face. Obviously, the staff enjoyed chatting amongst themselves than attending to the guests. Even upon request, they displayed an attitude that you were not welcome here. We had 3 incidents, 2 at Kampu restaurant, 1 at front lobby with bell service where the staff was so rude that such behavior should not be permissible in a 5 star hotel. I did complain to the front office staff but I did not see much improvement during the rest of our stay. There were quite a few mosquitoes inside our room & I had asked the front desk to put 1 extra electronic repellent device in my room given the size of the suite. The front desk lady pleasantly said yes and offered to have the room sprayed while we were out for lunch. After we got back, my husband still found quite a few mosquitoes flying around and the extra repellent device wasn't in the room. I called up guests service and housekeeping then brought me the device & sprayed only the bathroom, as the living room were occupied by us. Both mornings during our stay, the TV signal was gone. I reported it the first day, it got fixed, but by the second day, I didn't even bother. I gave up! My husband used the small pool 3 times, & all 3 times there were no clean towels available, he buzzed a staff to bring a clean towel the first time, & the other 2 times he had to call front desk as he couldn't get any staff to go to the pool. He went again a fourth time, still no clean towels, he just gave up and went back to the room. Despite our unpleasant experience here, I must say that the staff at the front desk was helpful & professional, K. Moss at Kampu restaurant is top notch, team at the pool bar was nice. We won't consider staying here again, but I do hope they will fix the problems and maintain a 5 star standard for real.
