Set on a two and a half-hectare site with 200 metres of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, Azerai La Residence, Hue has 122 rooms & suites. The colonial mansion at the heart of the resort was built in 1930s as part of the residence of the French Resident Superieure. The mansion’s distinctive façade, its long horizonal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmark of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture. Its two complementary wings, built in 2005, are contemporary in design yet echo elements of art deco aesthetics and embrace an expansive tropical garden and salt-water swimming pool.

Nice enough building and rooms but a little blighted by some work in the neighbourhood at the moment. However…. A few problems. When the restraint is busy it’s unbearably noisy. The buffet is average. The clearing stations are in the restaurant so there’s a constant clatter of plates and cutlery as the staff clear up. It would be simple to fix. We asked on arrival for a restaurant recommendation, we were given one and wanted to go there the next evening. When I asked a different person to book she I believe deliberately booked a different one despite me asking for the first one…. So confusion followed. It was pretty obvious they were incentivised to book us Madame Thu instead. She was rather insistent until we insisted on Banh Gánh which was really good. One for management to watch out that restaurants are not incentivising the staff overtly. Very average stay, bit disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend nor stay there again.

Excellent hotel, top service, the friendliest staff and amazing affordable massages. Food for both breakfast and dinner very good. Trang and Anh from the spa team were very talented and even went beyond the allocated time for our 90 minute Vietnamese massages

Beautiful hotel set by the river in an old historic French colonial building. Very carefully maintained and spotlessly clean in every detail. Rooms are just as beautiful as the communal areas with semi open bathroom and enclosed shower. Bed was bit hard for my taste but still comfortable with nice lined and super sized. Spa was great and reasonably priced for the facilities and quality of service. Breakfast was very good and I also enjoyed the food served at the bar. Staff are all very friendly and so helpful. The hotel is close to the old historic part of the city so easy for tourists. The main part of the city is a 20 min walk along the river side so perhaps bear that in mind if you want to be in the city with more choice of restaurants, etc. The only downside to my stay was the construction at the edge of the hotel. Noisy from 7am - 6pm and it is directly adjacent to the very nice pool. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars. If you will be out all day then you will not notice this as it is very peaceful in the evening.

A beautiful hotel with a beautiful staff. Every touch point was fantastic. Arrived early and had a delicious lunch in the dining room. The room was spacious and gorgeous. A true 5 star. The artwork and bar, pool and spa are beautifully appointed. I had the absolute best massage with a fantastic woman who went above and beyond. I had many massages while in Vietnam as we worked our way from North to South. This was by far the best! This hotel was lovely and the nicest one we stayed at. They arranged a private tour for us as we had 1 day in Hue. The guide was fantastic and the hotel provided their car to drive us with the guide. Again, their driver was so accommodating and professional and warm. We wanted to have a drink at a rooftop bar and he graciously dropped us there at the end of our tour. A wonderful experience which is why I took the time to write the review!! A bonus is this hotel is a close distance from the train station as we took the scenic train from Danang that goes along the coast. In addition not far from Hue airport which is new and not crazy crowded like the other airports in Vietnam. Our time in Hue was fantastic thanks to La Residence, Hue! Thank you.

We stayed at the Azerai for our honeymoon and had a great visit. The town is adorable and so much fun to sit on the sidewalks and have some food and beer. Tri made us feel right at home at the hotel and treated us like royalty! The spa was amazing, don’t miss it!
