About the Hotel

Set on a two and a half-hectare site with 200 metres of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, Azerai La Residence, Hue has 122 rooms & suites. The colonial mansion at the heart of the resort was built in 1930s as part of the residence of the French Resident Superieure. The mansion’s distinctive façade, its long horizonal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmark of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture. Its two complementary wings, built in 2005, are contemporary in design yet echo elements of art deco aesthetics and embrace an expansive tropical garden and salt-water swimming pool.

Greatest Hue Hotel & Spa

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

Hotel: wow! What a great relic of yesteryear!! This fabulously appointed art deco hotel recalls airs of a roaring 20’s movie set. Staff is super attentive& really cares- not just looking for extra tip. Food is a good array of offerings in western style. Did a cooking class that was fun- went to market for views only as all products produced here are from clean, fresh& organic vendors via supermarkets of food distributors. Champagnes are a bit exotic in offerings but really do the job. Concierge arranged a great 1/2 days tour w/ hote car which was amazing as it has been very hot 35’& humid. SPA: Anh & Kimanh treated my love and I to a great thai and Swedish massage then had just reset in just the right way. After a hot& humid day of walking through the Imperial City, what a delight! ProTip: ask to have extra 15minutes to clean up in large private bathroom. Experience ended with fresh glass of orange juice and good feels. March/April 2025- Restaurant being built next door so there are construction sights& sounds from 8am-5pm but Hotel is super attentive to this & made great strides to overcome this annoyance for the ladies. I loved seeing the whole site rapidly developing over these days.

The people are the culture

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

As a new “affordable luxury” brand from the mastermind of Amanresorts promising immersive experiences in local culture, I was very curious to stay at the Azerai. On first impression the hotel’s location in a restored colonial mansion on the Perfume River delivered. We stayed in a deluxe river view room in the newer wing (supposedly quieter as away from the street). The bed was very comfortable but the furnishings felt a bit “corporate purchasing office” and too big for the space. The focus really seemed on getting the guest out of the room and partaking of the stunning spa, gym and wellness facilities and local activities. Unlike a lot of other hotels where you feel like they are hawking tours just to get a commission, it’s clear they put a lot of thought into the itinerary and guides they work with to deliver a very personal and enriching experience. But the standout quality of the Azerai Hue that would make me come back is the service. The sincerity, kindness and integrity we encountered from the general manager down to the employee who outfitted us with bikes provided perhaps the most profound insight and immersion into the culture and people of Hue.

A splendid hotel

This used to be the French Governor’s Residence and the beautiful art deco building has been tastefully restored and extended. The staff are highly attentive and our suite was light and spacious with an amazing terrace. We would certainly return if we were in the area again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable

It is a beautiful hotel which afforded us a relaxing experience. We ate in the restaurant twice because the food was delicious. We received a warm welcome, and all the staff were exceedingly attentive. There were lovely treats delivered to your room each day which we enjoyed.

A 5* hotel that knows how to be a 5*

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

5* from beginning to end. A beautiful hotel with amazing service. We only had 2 nights in Hue, so didn't get to spend as much time in the hotel as we would have liked as we had day trips pre-planned. Everything about the hotel exudes quality from the moment you walk in. The staff are attentive and super helpful. The pillow menu, in the superbly comfortable and very well appointed bedroom, was something new on my travels :-) The breakfast is amazing, the selection and quality of a standard that deserves 5* recognition on its own. We ate dinner in the restaurant on one night, again the food was delicious. The weather wasn't suitable for the pool but we did use the gym which was well ventilated and air-conditioned with decent equipment and all one would expect. There was construction work going on behind the hotel when we were there and we were given a complimentary drink/cocktail in the bar as compensation for any possible disturbance, of which there was none. Highly recommend.
