The Tides Inn is a Chesapeake Bay resort set in the heart of Virginia's Northern Neck. You’ll feel the rich heritage at the Tides Inn the moment you arrive. There’s history in the water which laps gently against the Inn’s Duffy boats in the marina. There’s an undeniable coziness in the charm of the people around you. A quaint nostalgia in sipping a cold lemonade as you watch the afternoon sun dip into the sea. It’s palpable, and it’s a legacy that’s as beloved to us as it has been to you for decades.

The resort is a wonderful place to stay! Everything you can want and more. The views are spectacular. It is in a quant little community that is awesome to drive through. The resort is right on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, the ecological walk was a little chilly but so worth the effort. Michael is a great Marina Captain! He is very knowledgeable.

I can't recommend The Tides Inn enough for a romantic getaway! The setting is gorgeous; the food is delicious; and all the people are so warm, friendly, and welcoming. We did a pasta-making class with Brandon that was such a blast. (He also very kindly made us more than the planned pasta, as I am allergic to shellfish.)

Very beautiful and relaxing environment , comfortable rooms, the hotel never felt crowded. Our dinners were fresh and very tasty we had the vegetarian option of Thai coconut rice with eggplant and chili . It was elegantly presented and delicious. I hope the chef will add a few more vege options to the menu. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to come back again.

The Tides Inn is truly a hidden gem. It’s a small pieces of paradise carved out of the lower Chesapeake bay. It offers something for everyone. You feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The service and staff are some of the best around. The restaurants and food are wonderful.

I have never written a poor hotel/resort review. We had initially thought that we had found our new favorite resort. The restaurant on property (Salt and Meadow) was excellent. Sitting under the massive cedar tree looking out at the bay at sunset was simply magical! But for us, the room we were in #603 (which we were told is one of the best rooms on property) paying about $1,200 per night was a total disconnect with the rest of the resort. Upon entering the room the floors felt unstable (we are all for charming old inns with bumpy floors… but this was not that), the bathroom door would not close, the toilet when flushed always made a bizarre moaning sound for several minutes (and ran all night), the faucets screamed when turned on, the shower leaked and the mini refrigerator caused anything that wasn’t sealed, to reek. When told to the front desk about some of these issues we were informed that “no one else complained and that the bathroom was getting gutted next year”. Loved the rest of the resort but not sure we will return for a stay.
