About the Hotel

The Tides Inn is a Chesapeake Bay resort set in the heart of Virginia's Northern Neck. You’ll feel the rich heritage at the Tides Inn the moment you arrive. There’s history in the water which laps gently against the Inn’s Duffy boats in the marina. There’s an undeniable coziness in the charm of the people around you. A quaint nostalgia in sipping a cold lemonade as you watch the afternoon sun dip into the sea. It’s palpable, and it’s a legacy that’s as beloved to us as it has been to you for decades.

Terrible management

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed there for 4 days in July 2024. As part of our visit, my wife participated in the pottery class . The pottery she created was to have been sent to her but never was. 5 months later and 6 un-answered calls to resolve this, we have not heard from management at Tides Inn. This is unacceptable for a resort like this.

Dissapointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I have voiced my disappointment directly with the establishment. Ambience lost - for a high price. Housekeeping issues noted like breakfast trays in hallway at check out time. Unfairly charged $30 a drink for a $12 Bourbon with no apologies.

Unpleasant surprises

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We have visited tides many times and was looking forward to it being a treat on our way to Florida. The renovation is nicely done, but I have mixed emotions on the amenities. We had a veranda room and I felt like I was in the basement where the staff resides because they were coming and going out of the elevator constantly.. room service tray still in the hall when I arrived. Dinner was average selection limited my biggest complaint though is that they charged me 30 bucks for a bourbon that any place else is $12 and they blamed it on the Virginia lottery system. I won’t take the time to explain it, but they obviously passed their cost for their supply issues because of that lottery.onto me. There was no bar menu with prices and this should have been disclosed so while I peacefully drink my buffalo trace I ended up with a bill that was shocking $90 for three bourbons that’s not right and I intend to debate this with general management and food and beverage management. It should have been disclosed. Not fair to pass that onto me with no disclosure.

Marina Stay a Must

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We leased a slip at the marina for two nights during Taste by the Bay. We had two other couples do the same thing. We had dinner with 10 people on Friday night which was incredible with service and quality. The Marina was clean, the dockhands were fantastic. A must do when traveling up and down the bay.

A Hidden Gem!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The resort is a wonderful place to stay! Everything you can want and more. The views are spectacular. It is in a quant little community that is awesome to drive through. The resort is right on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, the ecological walk was a little chilly but so worth the effort. Michael is a great Marina Captain! He is very knowledgeable.
