Reviews for Ottoman Hotel Imperial

Family visit to Istanbul

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Hotel is in a wonderful location and just a very short walk to a number of main attractions although we had to walk about 500 metres up a cobbled hill with our bags to get here. The room was sufficient although our bathroom was very small and cramped. However other family members had a larger bathroom so perhaps just luck of the draw.

Comfortable, cosy, and near to the mosque.

The hotel building has been built and decorated in an impressive ottoman style with much attention to detail. The breakfast room has a magnificent dome which makes you feel you are sitting having your breakfast in an ottoman era palace, with a breakfast menu fit for a sultan's table. Thanks to Sevgi who attended to all our needs. Thank you to Erihan the hotel manager at the reception desk who happily made sure our stay was comfortable and to the standard we are used to. We will happily recommend this hotel to all our friends and family and also return for another stay.

Perfect retreat for our 6 night Istanbul break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Stayed for 6 nights in a larger room on fourth floor with jacuzzi and views of the Hagia Sophia. Traditionally furnished in Ottoman style. This place is a sanctuary located on a quiet road moments away from the hustle and bustle of the main sights of the old town. Front desk staff very helpful and Sevgi and Yusuf in the breakfast room and at dinner gave an exceptional service with a smile. The in house Matbah Restaurant well worth a visit for authentic Ottoman cuisine. Location of this hotel is excellent and attracts an international clientelle.

A pearl in the heart of old town Istanbul

The hotel is located across a narrow street from Hagia Sophia, within easy walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Basilica Cistern. Our room was cozy and comfortble, with a lovely view of the Blue Mosque in the distance and one of Hagia Sophia's minarets seemingly within reach - which meant that the first morning call to prayer was quite the surprise, but we fell back asleep afterwards nonetheless (and grew to love the nighttime calls as they flowed amongst the many mosques in the still of the night). Dinner in the restaurant was grand, and we looked forward to the daily breakfast buffet; Sevgi and her smile ever-present in both rooms to ensure terrific service. The staff were always available to assist with transportation needs. We cannot wait to return to Istanbul and the Ottoman Hotel Imperial.

An Istanbul and Turkish experience of great hospitality!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is the place to stay if you want a true Turkish and Istanbul cultural, culinary, and hospitable experience! You can't get any closer to the Hagia Sophia than here. It is literally right across the pathway from the Hagia Sophia, and just steps away from the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, and museums. And don't miss out on experiencing the restaurant, MatBah. The best meals we had in Istanbul are right here, along with a good selection of Turkish wines. The menu is made up from centuries old recipes. It's a true taste of Turkish history through food. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Bring earplugs. You'll still hear the call to prayer, but slightly less. The staff at all levels is the most hospitable, charming, and helpful. And don't forget to end your first night with Raki, as well as your subsequent night!
