Reviews for Radisson Blu Hotel, Istanbul Pera

Absolutely horrible place with an arrogant and ignorant manager

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The most upsetting experience with Radisson in my life. So many things are broken or working weirdly so I don't know where to start. Rooms are smelly (pipes are not maintenaned, I was offered to change the room, but we tried 2 different and one smelled even worse) and noisy (outside traffic, inside air-conditioning is loud and you can hear other rooms doors banging). Cosmetics in the bathroom smells awful and for sure is not what is offered in other countries by the same chain. I was lucky to have some conditioner with me, but I had to buy body lotion externally. Spa is a big joke: jacuzzi is cold, Hamam stinks like mold, pool has sharp edges and weird rules about swimming cap that were enforced on me, but later I watched people swimming without. The worst part is that they try to sell you this cap for 200 lira, although technically I could use a shower cap from the room. (Funny enough my room had only empty shower cap box when I opened it). And everything in this hotel is somehow like this. Exist, but you have to ask twice and accept half broken state of things (I got bathrobes only after saying that I will leave a bad review and etc). To be fair the management was trying to compensate me with a juice or even massage (my spa experience was totally awful on the first day) but it's not possible to fix what is already ruined - my time is wasted and the experience is spoiled.  The bed is big, but linens are done in a way that half of if it is unusable. Including the middle, where you just have a lot of crumbled fabrics. The cherry on top of the cake is a Russian speaking manager, to whom on the day one I told that I really do not need to be addressed in russian, since I see my nationality mainly as a birth defect, was badly harassed by my own country, and prefer English since then, also I'm traveling with an English speaking spouse, and... the next morning she came to me during breakfast speaking Russian again... I will definitely think twice before choosing Radisson again. Even though I really loved the experience with this chain allover Europe.  Employees that made my stay a little less awful and were actually a lot more helpful than the manager - Noah Soloman at the spa, Mr Tarfan at the reception - definitely deserve promotion and do a lot more of a actual hospitality management.  P.s. The manager has just replied to my google review (more or less the same text) saying that I had shown disrespect to the staff. It's such a Russian approach, blaming others for what you've just done yourself. Avoid this place by all means!

Friendly staff

Review for Radisson Hotel We had a pleasant stay at this Radisson, thanks to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. A special mention goes to the cleaning lady, Gulfee, who made our experience even better with her kindness and attention to detail. The team truly adds warmth to the hotel.

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions." Highly recommend this hotel! :)

Incredibly disappointing and not a 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I was part of the Turkish Airlines complimentary stay Overnight Stopover program. My voucher clearly indicated that I would have an early arrival. The unfriendly male at checkin told me at 7am that it would be an hour and a half or two hours wait. He told me to wait in the bar area nearby. When I went back at 9am he told me that he would come and get me when a room was available. He was not friendly. After this time a tour group checked out so I assumed it wouldnt take more than 30 minutes to clean a room for me. I went back to the bar area and was asked to leave by another staff member as I had been sleeping on a couch. I went back at 11am and spoke to another male. I was ready to leave and pay for another hotel as I have Gold Status with Hilton hotels and Platinum with IHG. I was given a room which had a view of a green wall, the window cleaning machinery and an abandoned block of apartments. Because of this I kept the curtains closed for most of my stay. The staff were aggressive in selling the spa services - even cold calling my room phone despite just having been down and had a tour. The mirror in the bathroom was falling off the wall. The timber flooring had been water damaged and I stubbed my toe on it. The bed linen had holes in it. I had to ask twice for more body lotion as the container was empty. At my end of the building was a construction site which was noisy. Also on my arrival a dog barked for some hours making sleep difficult. The hotel did not seem anywhere near full. The bar manager show no sympathy towards me having to wait in the bar. The only other people in the bar at the time were three men who spoke loudly and aggressively into a mobile phone which was on speaker. I travel a lot. I understand that this stay was complimentary and that I wouldnt get the best room with a great view. However I got the exact opposite. The damage to the room alone means that this should never be advertised as a five star hotel. I would rate it as a three star hotel. One of the three reasons I chose to fly Turkish Airlines was because of this complimentary stay. I had only been in Istanbul the previous July and had a fantastic stay at a Hilton property. The experience that I had a the Radisson meant that I am unlikely to chose the complimentary stay again, stay at any other Radisson property or recommend either to friends or workmates

Great experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Gulfer was a very lovely cleaner, and we are very happy with her customer service. The hotel reception staff are professional. However, the only disappointing experience was on the first day when we wanted to have breakfast at the hotel. The restaurant staff did not allow us to have breakfast in front of other guests and brought the POS machine to our table.
