An oasis in the historic walled city of Jaipur, Samode Haveli is a traditional Indian mansion set in a glorious garden with apartments arranged around a series of courtyards. Built 175 years ago as a residence of the rulers of Samode, it is still occupied by their descendants, who have converted their home into a luxury hotel. Bedrooms are hidden all about the rambling building and are astonishingly decorative, covered in twinkling mirror work, with ornate paintings, tiny alcoves and soaring arches. Rooms have large beds and most have private terraces. The restaurant features a spectacular hand-painted dining hall which provides a special setting for dinner, and offers a choice of Indian food or delicious Asian and European meals. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel's spa, with sauna and steam room facilities, and a range of luxurious massage therapies offered by expert professionals.

A beautiful heritage property in heart of Jaipur. We were staying in a suite which was very well appointed, the service is very courteous and the food is excellent. The overall ambience of the place is great with lots of greenery. The location is great with all major attractions not very far.

I would highly recommend This beautiful family owned hotel . From the chaotic small streets you arrive into an oasis of calm. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was a very good size and very comfortable . Decor was in keeping with the heritage of the property. The bar, reception area and gardens are all beautiful and well maintained. I do agree with other reviews that the property is a bit tired in places.( bathrooms, fittings, garden furniture in garden rooms) The cocktails were delicious - especially the newly trialled on me - Picante! We spent 2 nights here and both nights we ate in the courtyard part of the restaurant. The food was the highlight of our trip so far. There were fire pits and blankets to keep us warm and the ambience with thefairy lights in the banyan tree was so romantic. The owner of the hotel was very present and the staff seemed at very at ease around the owner which is always a good sign He was friendly and welcoming and it is obvious that he is very proud of his hotel , and he should be. I forget all the names of the different waiters But want to thank them all for their attentiveness and friendly manner. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This hotel in an old haveli is indeed very nice. The facilities are great, the restaurant is good and the staff very professional. However it needs some refreshing to really deserve 5 stars, especially when it comes to the furniture. If you ask me, I would actually keep the old traditional haveli building and only use very modern decoration and furniture. This would make it an exquisite boutique hotel…

We spent 2 lovely nights at the Samode Haveli in Jaipur. Comfortable rooms, good food and delightful gardens. The reason for only 3 stars is that we left on a sour note. Before asking them to collect our bags we went to reception to pay our bill. They asked if we’d had anything from the mini bar and I told them I’d had a beer the night before which was added to our bill which we paid. We went to the front of the hotel, found our driver and waited for our bags…..which didn’t materialise. The security guard who was now on the phone informed me that I had not paid our bill. I informed him that I had and went to reception to ask what the problem was. It turns out that in the intervening period they had checked our mini bar and realised that I’d also had a beer the night before which I hadn’t mentioned as I believed room service would have picked that up having cleaned out room after our first night. Indeed he agreed that they should have done and it was their mistake. Anyway they were not prepared to deliver our bags until I paid for the beer (which I did) but told them that it was regrettable that our stay ended in an embarrassing stand off over a £5 bottle of Kingfisher lager!

We had 3 nights at this quirky hotel and enjoyed 90% of it. I have only awarded it 4*'s as it is becoming rather jaded. It is in need of a fresh coat of paint Updated fixtures in bathrooms eg basins New towels A deep clean Other than that the hotel has beautiful, maintained grounds with a great swimming pool area We were upgraded to a suite which had a private patio. Great for relaxing in the sunshine. The food in the restaurant was good with attentive waiters. They made us an excellent local speciality, Dal Bati Churma which needs 24 hours notice to prepare but well worth it. The hotel is quirky in design with little squares full of plants. It actually took us two days to find the easiest way to our room but it was fun. The walls are covered with photographs depicting the days of the Raj. All in all a pleasant stay
