We just returned from 7 days vac on Saturday We have been going to same place for years. We go there because we live this place and ppl that work there. Rooms always clean, beautiful beaches, and staff will go above their duties to make sure you are happy. We never were hungry,we could always find healthy and fresh choices. Human resource manager Thalia was amazing, her door was always open and she genuinely cared that costumers were happy. Thank you

I just returned last week from staying at Camino del Mar. Sorry, this is a long one. I have been there many many times over the last 10 years. I had very little expectations seeing as it has not yet been picked up by a supplier. The staff fought hard to get it reopened and worked hard on getting it ready to do so. They have done a fantastic job. The hotel looks great, the grounds are well kept and everything is so clean. The warmth and hospitality of the staff are A+++. Yes it is their job, but I've been to a lot of hotels in my career and have not experienced that genuine feeling of it is more than just a job to them. Maykel Salas welcomes you as you arrive and takes good care if your bags. Not too much has changed with the facilities. There is a brand new beach bar, double in size from the last one. It has a grill area for lunch. Edel González helped build it and planted a raised bed garden for mint so there are no shortage of mojitos. The kids club has been converted to what may be a clubhouse or bungalow in the future, not sure on that. The hotel is currently 18+, so no need for a kids club building. The second lobby bar where Ernest now stands, is now a full functioning bar daily. Alex and Amaury tend the bar there and make the best drinks. Ask for a Banana Mama. The original lobby bar is also still operating with Mileydis Gonzales making the best Cappuccinos. The pool bar has all new tables and chairs and is still serving up sandwiches and French fries. The food, yes I know everyone wants to hear about the food. Well, it was the best food I have had in Cuba in a long time. No exaggeration. There were eggs, bacon, butter, beef, chicken, pork, fish, fresh vegetables. Now we know in Cuba things change constantly with the supply chain, one week there are eggs and the next week none. So every visit will be different. The chefs were catering to guests if there was a dietary restriction. One couple did not eat pork and preferred a bit of hot spice with their food. They never complained, they were just inquiring. The rest of the week the chef had cooked them a separate dish before any meat was on the grill and kept it warm until they arrived. He even brought them a little spice from home. That is not just doing your job, that is a passion. Alex the bartender had brought someone chamomile tea from home, and anise from his garden to share. At the Cuban BBQ lunch, where there is usually a pig roast, they had roasted chickens, as there was not enough guests to get a pig. No big deal I just mentioned that it was too bad. At dinner that night i was shocked when one of the cooks surprised me with grilled pork and glazed onions he made me since I didn't get it at lunch. There was nightly entertainment, great bands and singers. Daytime games and beach and pool volleyball were very popular. Paumier Dioslan is doing a great job as the entertainment manager. As for the infrastructure, no the AC in the buffet has not yet been fixed. The units are there waiting to be installed. I only found it a bit warm one morning. But really, it's winter, 26 on average, not super hot. So just eat and go outside. The water pressure was still up and down depending on the time of day and where your room was. I was able to shower everyday. The beach as always was great. If you like smaller, friendlier resorts, this one is worth the visit.

New Name...Same Great Resort

The only thing that has changed is the name!! We have been coming here for 15 years. The hotel has been closed for a year going through renovations and ownership from Melia to Gran Caribe. Many of the old staff have returned to give you the best customer service!! Food and drink are plentiful. Give it a try.....you won't be disappointed.
