Perched high above the desert capital of Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest private residences in the world – set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens. Designed by renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the palace is a blend of eastern and western architectural influences. Its majestic 105 – foot high cupola is influenced by the Renaissance, while the towers draw inspiration from Rajput tradition. The lavish interiors with gilt furniture and elegant artwork follow the Art Deco style, complemented by the exotic murals by the self-exiled Polish artist Stefan Norblin. In 1997, the palace was converted into a luxury hotel, and is now managed by TAJ. With this, the TAJ extends its grand luxury palace experience to the city of Jodhpur.

We were staying for our anniversary, and the entire team has made us feel very welcome and special, especially Kanchund, having prepared unique decorations for us. Check in and checkout were the most seamless we’ve ever experienced. Special thanks to Kadaiy and Gordhan, who took care of us during dinner and breakfast at the Pillars.

From the royal greeting, to the incredibly beautiful palace, attentive staff and comfortable and spacious rooms, our stay was magical. Malvika at reception was always available to help us navigate our stay with helpful suggestions and organizing some special activities like watching a polo match, seeing the palace museum ,private palace tour and a private family blessing . Amar, Saddique and Karan greeted us with a smile and made our meals memorable. A wonderful 3 day adventure.

We visited in the month of December. Polo tournament was on at that time and as Umaid Bhavan sponsored the tournament we got a special seat to watch the match. It was such an exciting and fun experience. Thank you Umaid Bhavan for that. Our historical suite was lovely. Umaid Bhavan itself is an impressive palace , impeccably maintained by the staff. Each and everyone of the staff was courteous and absolutely helpful. Our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Khanchandji of housekeeping who has an eye for every small detail and Mr. Siddiquiji who attended to us with utmost enthusiasm while we were at the Polo match, Mr. Swaroop Singhji who made our Anniversary celebrations most special by turning it into an event for my husband and me. Also special mention of and thanks to Mr.Ranveer, Ms. Malvika, Chef Shobhit ( for the most delicious food ) & Ms. Rajnandani.

Step into a world resplendent and regal in every way. No detail overlooked. No request unfulfilled. A grand hotel so magnificent and beautiful, it takes your breath away when you first enter. Luxurious, large, spotless and quiet rooms to retreat to. But, the staff make this place the spectacle it is. From Malvika and her colleagues at reception, to Aman , Karan and Saddique in the dining areas….. perfect ! Loved every minute of our stay !

This was a truly royal experience. We enjoyed this property so much, that we cancelled any planned outings after the first day. The Palace/Hotel is extremely well maintained. Pre arrival with Gaurav Samtani was very pleasant. Arrival was made special by several members of the hotel staff and on a daily basis by Mehardin, at the front door. The food and beverage service was excellent - wide variety of choices, and no special request was impossible. While every staff contact was outstanding, I would like to mention Aaryan at the Trophy Bar, and also Aman, Karan, Saddique, Shashank, Chandan S, Pragya, N. Singh and Goverdhanji during our many meals. Saddique also was very attentive at the Polo Match. Even the young man at the outdoor pool area and gym was great.
