Reviews for Turtle Bay Resort (DNU)

Not what it used to be

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We have been staying at Turtle Bay for over 30 years, and unfortunately this was the worst stay we have had. We love Turtle Bay for the appreciation of Hawaiian culture, breathtaking views and zen-like experience. We didnt mind paying for the Ritz Carlton "up-charge" as we are bonvoy members and have stayed at many Ritz Carltons before. Unfortunately the Marriott has made the experience here average at best - the resort was quite crowded, cookie-cutter and "vanilla." There were WAY too many people there, the Ritz has not provided more staffing or increased other amenities, so the actual experience and quality has gotten worse. So much more to say, but I will leave it at that - I dont think we will frequent this resort as often anymore. Hoping Marriott will read this and not ruin what used to be one of the most incredible hidden gems in the country.

Incredible Resort 10/10!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This hotel was absolutely stunning with endless activities for the entire family! My 4yr old absolutely loved the pools and both waterslides. The hotel was a perfect mixture of family and romance if you do not have kids. All restaurants and bars were absolutely delicious with great service. The concierge, Seya, set us up with the perfect schedule when we arrived and she was so kind and really took care of us. We will be returning for sure!

Not up to Ritz Standards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This hotel is not up To Ritz standards. The property which used to be the turtle bay resort is exactly the same. The only thing the ritz did was change the name. For the price charged - the rooms are old, musty , limited pools and the food was not great either. Disappointment. This is not bang for the buck nor a ritz experience.

Not Worth It - Avoid

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Staff were either a 1 out of 10 or a 10 out of 10. Bungalow team and hotel staff were 10 out of 10. Restaurant staff were horrific and 1 out of 10. The pools were fine, the property is in good condition and the food was just OK. The vibe at this hotel is a bit boring. The breakfast buffet has good food but the worst service we’ve ever had. We went twice to be sure and yep it was bad both mornings. If you’ve come to Hawaii from overseas, don’t bother with the north shore or this hotel. Stay in Waikiki or go to Kauai or Maui. Overall not worth the trip up from Honolulu and this hotel is average at best.

Good property but restaurants were lacking

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is a nice property since being updated and operated by RITZ-CARLTON. However, solo travelers beware - like much of Hawaii it is a honeymoon/romance/family first resort and there is not much for single travelers. Especially gay singles. Restaurants were quite average, some boarding on poor due to the low institutional quality of the food and the high prices. You are better off visiting food trucks around the island. The food quality of the sister Royal Hawaiian, in Honolulu visited on the same trip - was higher.
