OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa

Outrigger staff are happy and helpful, beds are very comfortable, rooms are clean and housekeeping staff very accommodating. Pools are great and easy to find a spot. Yoga classes are also great. Reusable Water bottles provided - this was a great add on. Close to Golf and water activities! Follow others advice and book the other classes as soon as you arrive, they fill up fast and offer less number of people in classes as other resorts. However, a few cons: had two hot showers the six days we were there. Rest no hot water in our room. Have not seen any other issues with this so may be our particular room. Complimentary products are minimal and okay in quality. No microwaves in rooms if you like to have one, said they are available but none when we were there. Room refrigerator holds a minimal amount or it will not cool.

Outrigger met our expectations and beyond! The rooms, the service, and especially Tiana who works at the front desk. She is the type of person that knows how to solve a problem. She took the time to hear our complaint and reconcile the issue saving us time and money. Thank you Tiana and Outrigger!

The Voyager 47 perks are so worth the room upgrades. Tess, Sharlaine, and Karen were wonderful hosts on my first night in Kona, what a lovely welcome. Felt like they were long lost friends. Delicious complementary drinks and food; poke, fish, spring rolls, charcuterie. Take your drink outside and watch the sunset :)

The hotel is 45% off in January. There is a $35 ad day resort fee. Parking costs $30 per day. There are 4 different taxes applied by the Government (state tax, GET tax, accommodation tax & parking tax). Government should learn to live within its means but I am not holding my breath on that. The resort and rooms are all newly renovated. It has one of the best fitness centres I have seen in a hotel and is open 24 hours a day. There is a restaurant, pool side snack bar and onsite convenience store. There is a Manta Ray viewing area for the evenings. It is children friendly with swimming pools, large water slide, and entertainment room with free unlimited video games. There is a separate adults only pool with waterfall. It is a 30 minute drive from the airport. There is a twice weekly luau with fire show. The marina where all the snorkelling, manta ray, and sailing tours leave from is next door. The around the island tour picks you up at the hotel lobby. You may not need a rental car if staying here. I would return and highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I have stayed at this resort 3 times. The first time was 32 years ago when it was the Kona Surf. The second time it was named the Sheraton Kona, and the third time was January 2025, and the resort was now the Outrigger Kona Resort. We really enjoyed our 8 night stay at the Outrigger. The resort staff are excellent always willing to help with your stay. The resort is well maintained, and very clean. Our Club 47 room was very nice with beautiful ocean sunsets. The nightly music was very good. The valet attendants were friendly, and quick to get our car. The highlight of our stay was the morning breakfast staff. They were always friendly, and greeted us with big smiles. They made us feel welcome, and were happy to see us. Fred and Pua were so friendly, and it made our day seeing their big welcoming smiles every morning. We will stay at this excellent resort the next time we visit the Big Island.
