Exceptional service at Bakers Cay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

During our stay here at Bakers Cay we had exceptional meals as well as service, particularly at Dry Rocks with Cristina and Justin at Calusa. They both had a special way of being both attentive and welcoming while personalizing our experiences each time we went.

Excellent resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This is a very clean, family orientated resort. We experienced excellent customer service in all areas. The service was great from the moment we arrived to our departure. We highly recommend the restaurants on property. We cannot wait to return. We had the best time there.

Don’t believe the hype…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Travelled to Miami and The Keys from the UK and this was one of three ‘resorts’ we stayed at in the Keys, the other two being The Marker in Key West and Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada. We booked a Suite in Coconut Wing, but were ‘upgraded’ to a corner suite next to reception in Hammock Wing. The rooms are spacious and quite nice (hence two stars) but that’s where it ends. Every day we were there, areas were closed off due to weddings. Service is unbelievably slow at the beach (bar and activities). So much so, we cancelled our order. Reception staff are OK, but no warm welcome or welcome drink (which we got in the other two resorts). Barely any activities or facilities for the ‘resort fee’ (I hate this about US hotels - charging people for WiFi and water and pool towels is not cool, especially given the room rates). Cheeca Lodge was FAR better value for money in this regard. Main issue was noise. Shocking. We had noise from the lift opposite, delivery trucks reversing through the night, staff trundling trollies past the room at all hours, kids banging on our door and running away late at night, piped music from the main building that seemed to be playing 24/7, noise from the room above. It was awful. We did complain on check out any they waived the bill, including the resort fee, which was appreciated but it spoiled the last two days of our holiday. I so wish I had have booked the hotel next door (Playa Largo).

Underwhelmed & Overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Overpriced, underwhelmed. Nice location on the Gulf. Very family-friendly, just not very special. Staff lacks the welcoming spirit, perhaps, they are just not properly trained to work in the industry. Yes, there were problems with the internet due to the local fires but these things happen. Given the price (and yes I realize its Spring break season) didn’t come away with a positive vibe.
