Ocean Key Resort & Spa

We took a lot of time before booking this as quite a pricy hotel, but we felt it was worth the money. Location is exceptional as right on Duval street and like most things in Key West, within easy walking distance of all the bars, restaurants and sights we wanted to go to. Rooms were huge, with ample amenities such as full service bar, coffee and tea facilities, drinking room sitting area, a double balcony with sea view and seating. Also an option of a walk in shower or free standing bath, along with his and hers sinks and the obligatory room safe. We had breakfast in Hot Tin roof every day, which was a pleasure and did dine there one evening, but that is covered in a separate review. Menu choices for breakfast were of a high standard as you would expect as was the food quality and service. We even tried the same rum bar for cocktails before going out on one of our many adventures, great tipple. Valet parking was available and we used this which was seamless as was checkout all in all a very pleasant stay.

Staff was efficient, genuinely friendly, and very professional. Check-in was quick and the room was even better than imagined. Everybody went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. Even the servers at the Hot Tin Roof helped us pick some excursions. Wife wasn't thrilled about the trip, but ended up saying that we need to come back to this hotel.

The room was extremely noisy, and despite having booked an ISLAND VIEW JUNIOR SUITE, the view was of a dark and dirty parking lot. The room is not worth the amount paid, and the value for money is terrible. Despite having communicated our disappointment about the noisy room to the reception, they did not take us into consideration at all.

We spent 5 days at Ocean Key Resort & Spa in mid-March, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. My wife, daughter, and I were warmly welcomed by Emma, who checked us in quickly and noticed we had booked a standard room for the first night and a one-bedroom suite for the rest. She and Craig worked some magic and upgraded us complimentarily to the suite for our entire stay — a huge and much-appreciated gesture. We were soon strolling out to explore with welcome cocktails in hand. As others have said, the staff here are excellent across the board — housekeeping, pool, restaurant, front desk — everyone was friendly and helpful. The location couldn’t be better: right on the waterfront, steps from lively Duval and Front Streets, with endless restaurants, shops, and cultural spots nearby. The hotel is clean, has a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and the pool is perfectly positioned for all-day sunshine. Our suite was spacious and spotless. The bed was super comfortable and the room well-stocked with soft, plentiful pillows. That said, a couple of things could use attention: > The sofabed springs were shot — we ended up putting the mattress on the carpeted floor. > The shower temperature fluctuated randomly on multiple days. > Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while street noise was well-insulated, the local roosters made sure we were up by 5am daily! Thankfully, the comfy pillows helped us drift back to sleep. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return. The combination of attentive service, unbeatable location, and resort charm far outweighed the few minor hiccups. Highly recommended!

Location, service and value made this an amazing trip!! Great staff, attentive and fun, made everything feel like we’d known them for years. Park the car and leave it until it’s time to leave. Can’t wait to return and spend more time exploring the endless amount of bars and restaurants in the area.
