Hyatt Regency Cologne

Room was not cleaned properly and WiFi connection not good. For me I couldn't use WiFi during my stay due to connection issues. One time there was shortcircuit and power trip in the room. I selected room with river view. View was good but stay was not good for the money I paid.

This is a comfortable and well-located hotel, but it's not 5*. Rooms were comfortable but tired (brown carpet, old fashioned bathroom, shower leaked onto the bathroom floor). Pool is more like a municipal pool than a luxury hotel; water and surroundings were cold and very basic seating. Our trip got off to a bad start when we emailed the Concierge to confirm airport transfers (copying in the general hotel email), but no car was waiting for us at the airport and we had to take an extremely crowded train, arriving to large police presence due to a football match and protest (not the best welcome!). We also asked Concierge for a recommendation for dinner, and they sent us to a neighbourhood restaurant which was full - as was every other restaurant we tried in the area. Surely they would know that you need a reservation on a Saturday night in December, with the Christmas markets in full swing? Why not call ahead and check before sending us on a 20-minute walk where there was clearly no hope of getting food! Breakfast - well, the food was good but if you don't get there early be ready to queue for 30 mins plus! They clearly know they have a problem, as there is a large banner in reception warning of when breakfast gets busy - but why not add capacity by opening up another area of the hotel for breakfast? Overall, this was a comfortable stay but not 5* service or amenities.

Myself and my husband stayed for 2 nights for Christmas Markets. Hotel was in a great location near Central train station and Cathedral. Lovely hotel, great views from breakfast room. Standard room was very spacious. Comfy bed. Great service in restaurant and Legends bar. Hotel had luxurious feel. Good value stay.

Cologne seems to be lacking in boutique hotels, so whilst I usually avoid booking chain hotels, I think the Hyatt Regency hotel is probably the best option for a top end stay in the centre of Cologne. We were in Cologne for a few nights as my husband was running the marathon, and the Hyatt Regency was a good location for both the start & finish areas. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very good too. The hotel room was nice and spacious and the bathroom, although large, including a bath, was slightly dated but not horrendous. They also gave us an extended check-out time (due to the marathon) which was very useful.

The hotel is very good and rooms are excellent and clean. The view to the Dom is great. Location is very good. The breakfast is great with a good choice and the restaurant of the hotel is good. Food is great and you can have sushi’s. Can only recommend the hotel for a stay in Cologne.
