Hotel Granvia has it all!
The Hotel Granvia had everything. Located in Kyoto Station the convenience for all our day trips was fantastic. There was shopping on site, lots of dining options and entertainment - dancing and light displays in the station auditorium on different nights and we explored all the walkways around the station. The rooms were faultless with sensor night lights, shower/steam room and all the amenities we could have wished for. Very comfortable extra bed.

Great location not the best customer experience
Hotel Granvia Kyoto is an excellent location for access to Kyoto train station. It is also very well positioned for access to many of the main visitor sites. It is above the Porto shopping centre which offers lots of choice for dining if you want to stay local. Room had a great view of the Kyoto Tower and the bed and linen are comfy and crisp. The reason for 3 star review is that the hotel is very busy, it feels very suited to a conference location or property for larger tour groups. This impacts on the customer service, all staff were very polite and professional but they are dealing with you from an efficiency perspective rather than one of real interest. An example is that on check in you are given breakfast vouchers which you present in the dining room, made it feel like a canteen experience. Breakfast very busy and not a relaxing or enjoyable event. So if you are looking for a more personal welcome, check out other options.

Repeat Visit after such a good stay the first time!
Stayed here for the second time this year and had a stay just as good as the first! Definitely worth upgrading to a better room if you can, our room was tastefully decorated with amazing views of Kyoto Tower. The location is perfect, particularly if you are using the train network during your stay and taxis are easily accessible.

Excellent location but overpriced.
Pleasant hotel in a fabulous location.However food was mediocre and outrageously overpriced!!!!!!!!! Also carpet in our bathroom needed serious attention! Overall it was “an experience “ and if visiting this beautiful city again we would probably book elsewhere.
