General Manager Tim O'Driscoll most successfully runs a truly first class team at what is a truly excellent property. My and my wife's list of items to praise would include a superb Deluxe Room ( with a wooden Japanese bathtub) , excellent food, huge attention to detail, extremely helpful and friendly staff, good location ( right next to the must-visit Sanjūsangendō Temple). The hotel decor with its wood interior motifs has a very pleasing and zen feel to it - impressive while at the same time welcoming and relaxing. Particular mention is due to the following who, together with all those not listed, made our stay memorable through their kindness. The super energetic and kind Dennis Suherman ( Guest Experience Assistant Manager), Takeshi Shumabuku ( Cafe 33), Rejold ( Front Desk), Kimura ( Concierge), Saula the Italian Executive Chef and last but not least Yasuda ( in the kitchen) who gets top marks in in my very own rating system which I have called GPEGS ( the Global Poached Egg Grading System). As a very seasoned traveller poached eggs are notoriously difficult to cook to perfection but Yasuda gets top marks. Thank you Tim and all your colleagues for making our stay so welcoming, comfortable and memorable.

We had a most enjoyable three-night stay here. Staff are welcoming, the concierge in particular was extremely helpful organising the forwarding of our luggage to Osaka and Kanazawa, restaurant and lounge personnel remembered our orders days later after just one visit, etc. We were very impressed with the level of training and service standards in every department. Food quality was also excellent and the hotel is very conveniently located for tourists. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel was a great 5 star experience all around, from its excellent staff (Dennis the concierge was great!), the design of the interior, the food options, and it's in an excellent location next to Kiyomizu-dera. You can easily walk to that area which is full of shops and restaurants, as well as the famous temple. The train access is quite good, a short 5 to 8 minute walk to the Shichijo station with the Keihan line.

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Although they didn't offer any suit upgrades to us being Hyatt Globalist and the room that we got was a little small compares other Hyatt's, the staffs made up for it by being super friendly and welcoming. While we were there, they had a traditional Gisa dancing performance in one of the evenings with free drinks. It was very nice after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel concierge was very knowledgeable of the area and made good recommendations. She actually helped us booked a table in advance before we arrived to Kyoto. It was a Michelin rated restaurant and without that reservation, it would not have been possible to get a table because they are always booked don't accept walk-ins. So we were very appreciative of being able to try a very nice dinner. The hotel breakfast was very comprehensive, it had both western and Japanese buffets to choose from. The hotel is located in close proximity to major temples that you can get to by foot. But due to rain, we opted for taxis trips. Our experience with riding in taxis were very nice and smooth too. The hotel staff flagged down the taxi for us and let the driver know our destination, they also check with the driver whether he can accept credit card payments. All taxis are metered so we felt very assured of the price charged and what form of payment we chose to use. Most trips to the major tourist destination cost around 10-20 USD.

The corner room I booked was facing the construction site directly. The windows were almost fully covered with an isolated sound proof cover. As a result there was very minimal natural light in the room. And also not to mention that in order to go to the room, it will require to take two elevators from the lobby. At the end I had to downgrade the room into a standard room in order to exchange for a better view. However the standard room was much smaller than the corner room but I was paying the same corner room price. I think the hotel should just kept the corner room away from booking. Or there should be some warning that the view of the room was terrible and fully block so guest will have some sort of expectation during booking. I can’t imagine anyone would wants to stay in the corner room. At the end, the hotel still charged me the higher corner room price but I guess it is what it is
