Nayara Gardens

We spent three amazing days at Nayara Gardens - biggest disappointment is not staying here at least 5 nights. The resort is made up of three properties and you have access to all three. Three days was not nearly enough time to do and see everything. We stayed in a Rainforest Pool Villa room in Nayara Gardens. The room was amazing - outdoor and indoor shower (indoor was never used because the outdoor shower was incredible) - separate vanities - a wraparound porch with two sitting areas on each side and a jetted whirlpool surrounded by the most beautiful flowers with complete privacy. The room was cleaned twice a day and a sweet treat was placed on the bedside with nightly turn down service. The included breakfast was amazing. Eggs cooked any way you like, French toast, waffles, the freshest fruit, coconut water and fresh pressed coffee with hot cream every morning. All while looking at the Arenal Volcano - what a beautiful site. We ate at Asia Luna one night for dinner and it was great - tried a couple rolls of sushi and the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. We did a couples massage one afternoon and got to listen to the sound of the water flowing down the mountain. Started the massage with a foot scrub and ended with champagne and chocolates. The massage was amazing. We did the Mistico Hanging Bridges tour with a guide - by booking this through the resort we had transportation to the bridges, a guided tour through the park - our tour guide had a scope that allowed us to see birds, monkeys and frogs up close and capture some great pics, and included a Costa Rican lunch. We took a taxi to the La Fortuna waterfall and did that experience on our own - that was a great experience and the restaurant at the Waterfall is wonderful. Also the waterfall gift shop is the best place to buy souvenirs. From the time we arrived until we left we never encountered any one working at the resort that was not working hard to make sure we had everything we needed and taking the time to share their beautiful paradise with us. We want to especially thank William - he was the bellboy that took us to our room and picked up our luggage. Every time we saw him driving around the property on one of the golf carts he always spoke to us and was soo excited if he had spotted a sloth, monkeys, birds, frogs, etc. and constantly wanted to show us the animals or help us in any way possible. We were really impressed with the excitement from all the employees - they have the opportunity to see these animals a lot but every time they show you one they act like it is their first time seeing the animals and they are just as excited as all the tourists. So nice to experience. Tip - do a golf cart tour to learn about the property and to see the wildlife. The staff looks for sloths and monkeys daily - once they spot them they try to make sure they everyone they see know where to go look for these animals - after dark they will take you to see all the beautiful frogs.

What an amazing place this is. Everything about Nayara Gardens is extraordinary, we cannot wait to come back and spend more time here. The excursions arranged by Nayara was breathtaking (we saw the Mistico Hanging Bridges, La Fortuna waterfall and a sumptuous local lunch). Our guides were brilliant! Pura Vida!

Superb accommodation and location. The experience of staying there is made even better by the friendly, helpful staff. From the moment you arrive every request is handled professionally and expeditiously. It has been a delight to stay there.

What an amazing stay we had! It started with our airport transport booked through hotel. Miguel was the best, he was waiting right at the airport exit, and had cold waters and snacks waiting for us. He kept us safe on the 3hr winding drive in the mountains to resort. We loved him so much we requested him for our transport back to airport. The resort is the nicest place I have every stayed! Quiet, relaxing, lush atmosphere. The spa and thermal pools were the highlight! Definitely splurge for spa treatments. We did yoga 2 mornings and the class was geared towards everyone. The included breakfast was delcious, made to order eggs, fruit, pastries and THE BEST french press coffee. We even got to see the top of the volcano one morning. The restaurants were also very good. We ate at all of them during our stay. Be aware though, the drinks are $$$ $17-20 a drink!! We stayed in a pool villa suite. It was spacious, double sinks, outdoor shower and warm plunge pool. My only complaint is the flat pillows, if you like a firmer pillow like me bring one along!;) The room has a friddge that is stocked with water, beer, juices, and snacks and was restocked daily. We enjoyed our early morning wake ups to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys. Bring rain gear and expect some rain, you're in the rain forest. We LOVED it so much we are already planning to return again next Feb!
