We attended The 2024 Breeders Cup races at Del Mar. La Valencia was highly recommended by our travel agent. HUGE MISTAKE. We selected an Ocean View King room at a rather high nightly rate. The room we were assigned was TINY and bathroom ridiculously TINY! Carpet and furniture was worn, but the worst aspect about the room was the HVAC. The room had a noisy WINDOW HVAC unit! Nuts! On top of that, the room was directly above a banquet hall. Saturday night there was a function with a live band. The noise level in our room was unbearable. Hotel front desk told us there was nothing they could do until 10:00 PM when the event was over. Noise was so bad we had to leave our room! The property is beautiful, and location is great, but this is a tired hotel and nowhere near what you'd expect from a 5 Star hotel. Avoid!

This is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Service was great and we felt well looked after. I would say the bathrooms in particular need a refit - they worked but the workmanship and decor is tired. Restaurant is beautiful with some good food options but some of the food could have been better quality/cooked. I would recommend - but spring for a better room...

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary trip to the La Valencia. All the staff were great and very friendly. Mark - the concierge got us dinner reservations at Eddie V's that were fantastic! Mike - the pool bartender also took great care of us. Hopefully we'll be back!

Not really up to par from room condition or service standpoint in every area of hotel except pool cabana. (Mike is great) For this price point, the property fell short in many ways. We would not stay here again. Be wary of accessibility for those with mobility issues. They don't ever honor early check in even if I-Prefer member.

Beautiful hotel on Ocean with unbeatable views. Classic old world style and feel. Many amenities great food. Perfect location to walk for shopping and dinning in downtown area. Beautiful sea walk with birds and sea lions just steps away from hotel.

Just had a great vacation! Loved La Valencia Hotel...so nostalgic and very well done! Our room was in the West Wing with two queen beds, down pillows and crisp hi thread count sheets; it was a completely refurbished room that still maintained it's history. The staff, from the moment we pulled up throughout the very end of our stay, was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The grounds were impeccable and in a perfect location...on one side is the ocean and the other the village. We would definitely stay there again!
