Reviews for La Posta Vecchia

A perfect hotel near Rome to end your Italian vacation.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Incredible food and service in a beautiful hotel which is just 40 minutes from Rome airport. Although most guests seem to be only there for a few days (on the way home) the ambiance and service is that of a first class hotel which expects its guests to be there for weeks. We can't wait to return, as it is the perfect way to end a trip to Italy.

Overrated. It feels like a ghost of what could be, or used to be a great place.

Really a disappointment. It feels like they are struggling financially. The rooms and common areas feel run down and undercapitalized. It's a shame because the property has a tremendous history (which they do nothing to tell one about it), and oceanfront location with nice gardens. The service is ok, the food much less than one would expect for a Small Luxury Hotel. The website is much better than the in person experience.

Amazing

We visited this hotel last minute as we had enough of the hustle and bustle of Rome! We also stayed in their other two sister hotels and thought to complete the trio. I must say the service feels like you are at home. What wonderful staff who really looked after us. Thank you. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the room we were in was stunning. Only 30 minutes from Rome airport too. There is also a museum in the hotel which has remains of an ancient Roman villa. Can’t wait to go back. Very special place.

An Iconic Hotel within touching distance of Rome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

La Posta Vecchia was everything we hoped for and more, and is a true gem within touching distance of Rome. The hotel oozes old school elegance, and delivers the perfect “home from home” experience. There are too many unique features of the property to mention them all in one review, but the museum beneath the hotel summed up how interesting the history of the hotel is for guests. The hotel has just 19 rooms and suites, giving a very personal feel and the staff more than delivered. The food is everything you expect of a Michelin Star restaurant, and breakfast location overlooking the sea is perfect. My only thing to highlight would be the location- the hotel is not in a popular tourist area, and for us the time was best spent within the confines of the property- which has a beautiful pool, tennis court and gym alongside the other amenities you might expect.

Superb stay - to return is necessary

A wonderful stay, highly recommended. The whole venue exudes an elegant, serene charm and calmness. The employees we met are sincere, helpful and cheerful. Everyone we saw seemed happy to be working there. Even the people driving the buggies in the grounds acknowledged you with a cheery Buongiorno, salve etc. I was impressed staff remembered my name even though my stay was short. Long post follows: all good. In short, this is a venue to which I would return in a heartbeat. I only had a one night stay here although the best part of two days. It was excellent. From arrival at the airport where a transfer had been arranged to the warm welcome from several of the staff on arrival. It felt very special. The pre arrival dossier had been completed so check in was swift. There was a tour of the hotel, private beach pointed out, lots of information is readily available should you need. Stayed in Caesar room on the top floor which was a generous size, complimentary soft drinks and snacks, good quality toiletries, a good haidryer ( essential and so often lacking!) and a very comfortable bed. The pool is serene and the yellow tones are sympathetic to the age and grandeur of the building. Comprehensive treatments are available ( didn't have time). Signature cocktails are interesting and slightly quirky yet well balanced. The restaurant is calm and staff attentive. Food excellent, roasted lobster was superb, perhaps the best I've had. The wine list is strong and the sommelier helpful and listened well to my preferences. He was spot on with his recommendation- bravo. Breakfast, such a plethora of choice. Well presented. Again staff were courteous, friendly and helpful.
