Montage Laguna Beach

Montage provides top level service in an amazing space. The views are incredible. The staff is top shelf. The rooms are amkng the best you will find anywhere. This is an extra special space. It is not cheap but offers fantastic value becaise it is so special.

This is a beautiful property with amazing, attentive staff members. We can’t remember a recent experience where every staff member addressed us by name and made every interaction personal. We ate at both the Loft and Mosaic, which were delicious. And a special thank you to chef Eric Mendoza for a dinner follow-up by email. We can’t wait to return!

It was our first time at Montage and the resort is incredible. So well maintained, food was fantastic, service was impeccable and the sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Our room was a suite and was so well appointed and well maintained. It was very clean and housekeeping was fantastic. Spa was great. Amy gave one of the best massages I have had. Concierge was very helpful and gave great recommendations. Car service to town was a great perk. Valet remembered our names and where we had come from and were so friendly and quick getting our car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are now big Montage fans. We plan on returning soon.

For a 5 star hotel, they nickel and dime you on everything. Everytime we ordered a dozen oysters, it came with 11 oysters exactly. We didn’t say anything the first time but it happened too often afterwards that it did not feel like a mistake. We started counting every time we ordered a dozen oysters which is ridiculous that they would penny and dime you like that. Apparently, if you are not staying at the hotel and is using services at the hotel then the valet is comped for. But if you are paying $1k plus per night to stay then it costs $75 per night for parking regardless of how much you already are spending. That just means they don’t respect their hotel guests. If you already are spending money to stay there then they want more from you. Lastly, when you actually want to ask them about the charges then no one wants to help you. Went to talk to valet about the parking fee and if it would be comped or discounted since we spent over 1k at the spa. He was rude and acted like we were bothering him for asking. Then at the end he said “it’s taken care of.” And of course it’s not when we got the bill. Also there is NO HOUSECAR. It is false advertising on their website. Everyone had a smile on their face but were unhelpful at the same time. It felt like the twilight zone.

The waitress Dee Dee at Mosaic restaurant was very good. Great customer service a total pleasure. Not to mention Carlos at the love at the Loaf great customer service and pretty charismatic my family and I enjoyed drinks there before we went for dinner
