We had a lovely experience here at this resort. Lots of great walking trails & the rooms are fabulous. The cleaning ladies went above & beyond daily. Our rooms were cleaned each day & each evening we had a nice turn down with a treat! We ate most mornings in their main restaurant. I want to give a special shout out to Mathew first. He was on fire daily when he was there. Total “A” team!!! No waiting for service or coffee refills. He is just amazing & we enjoyed our conversations with him daily. We were sad when he had the day off! Totally different. I’d also like to acknowledge Jeremy whom we had at dinner. He is a very nice guy that makes excellent drinks & conversation! He also served us dinner & it was wonderful. We spent a lot of time by the pool and if you want excellent attentive pool service ask for Erick. He was on fire when he was on duty. We loved these guys bc they went above & beyond every single time we had interaction with them. The only reason I did not give 5 star was the older woman in gift shop was very standoffish & seemed very rude. I was looking at a $200 sweater bc we had a cold hike. She was not helpful at all nor was there any Typical timbers Resort greeting!!! We went to spa to see if we could find anything there. Your two Ladies were chatting amongst themselves from the minute we walked in till we left. No greeting & zero help. We went to Lulu Lemon in town where they happily greeted us & made a great sale. I know Timbers prides themselves on staff!!! It’s one of the best things about you guys besides your beautiful properties. We did not feel any love or kindness in these two areas & they could have been money makers for your resort. I love & have all the brands in spa but my hubby was like we aren’t spending anything in here. But other than that the resort, pool, locations & staff I mentioned were fabulous!!

Our stay at the Montage was simply out of this world. From the breathtaking views to the exceptional service, everything was flawless. The staff went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome, and every detail was pure perfection. We didn’t want to leave – truly the best hotel experience we’ve ever had!

This hotel is amazing. I have no notes. We stayed at the Montage for 3 nights, then we went on to Hana Maui and the Grand Wailea (that one was a big mistake!) and I found myself missing the montage. The service at the montage is incredible, the pool is very fun (we had a 5 year old) and the shaded chairs at the beach and pool were included in our cost (I’m specifically mentioning this because of the nickel and diming at the Grand Wailea) The food at their main restaurant, Cane and Canoe, was wonderful. The room was stunning, there was a beautiful trail head to the right of the property….this was an absolutely incredible experience. We also stayed at the Four Seasons on the Big Island on a previous vacation and while we loved it, we gave the edge to the Montage because the service (including food service), pool side service, and the food were all incredible! We made a huge mistake not coming back to the montage. It’s true luxury and vacation, and it’s pretty quiet and peaceful too.

Beautiful property with relaxing atmosphere. The beach was pretty and very calm, great for snorkeling. We hiked to the beach through the trail but wasn’t worth it. The wind was blowing sand and we weren’t able to stay for more than a few minutes. The pool area is nice and has a variety of different areas to enjoy.

We came to the Montage Kapalua Bay for 3 weeks in July 2025 with 5 family members: 2 vegan (fairly straightforward); 1 with severe diverticulosis who must not have anything with seeds, nuts or kernels (even cucumbers and tomatoes) or a hospital visit is on the menu; 1 with burning mouth and throat syndrome who must eat totally plain food prepared on a clean pan or grill with no salt, pepper or even garnish, or the chronic burning escalates for several days, and 1 teenager who can eat anything. I spoke with Sous Chef April before we arrived. She entered extensive notes in the Montage computer system and assured me that wherever we went in the Resort, the chefs and servers would access these notes/requirements and deliver meals without any difficulties (even at the pools). She also gave me her mobile number. On our first night, Executive Chef Justin, took our order, and adjusted menu items to fit our challenges. Everything was perfection (even the stir-fried breaded tofu, and I don’t like tofu). Sous Chef Zach made dishes for us that were not on menu. He took our order and came out 2-3 times to check on us. On the last evening, the 2 vegans had a craving for vegan burgers, but it was not on the menu nor was anything similar. Chef Zach made the best vegan burgers we’d ever had—terrific seasonings. Three times we got a whole Maui Gold pineapple sliced into chunks and placed back into the pineapple that was Not on the menu. We can still taste the sweetness. One night we went to a special event and Chef April sent a beautiful large fruit plate just for us since we couldn’t have the regular menu for this event. One day we made guacamole in our unit, and I decided I’d ask the pool server for a bag of their homemade fresh corn chips (not on the menu). We had them hot in less than 10 minutes. For the entire 3 weeks, we didn’t have any eating problems (which is rare for us, given the difficult challenges), and we felt like we had our own private chefs. We can’t wait to return. Art Gechman
