Same Experience in Past Years - Top Notch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Long time patrons of the Post Hotel and honestly concerned about the new owners. Happy to say the charm and elegance has been maintained. The dining experience is as always unsurpassed. A few pluses - extra staff and very attentive. A minus (and concern) - some furniture decor had been swapped out for what can only be described as Scandinavian modern. It’s the Canadian Rocky Mountains people! Don’t make the same mistake that Jasper Park Lodge made with circa 1970s cafe style decor. Enjoyed our stay. Will be back… please get rid of the mismatched tables - looks tacky.

Fairview Cabin? Fairview Freezer more like!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked at this hotel because we wanted the quality experience of a Relais Chateaux establishment. However, and incredibly, the room we had booked (Fairview Cabin 102) had no heating throughout our stay. We reported this to front desk and the maintenance person brought in a fan heater; he explained the heating system had been having issues for a long time. This was confirmed by front desk - we were told the cabins would be closed for maintenance shortly to fix this problem. Temperatures were sub-zero during our stay. The fan heater was noisy and we had to turn it off in order to be able to sleep. As a result, the room was extremely cold in the morning. It is absolutely unacceptable to open a room for booking in the knowledge that there is such a serious issue. It is even more so to actually host people in such a room in -7C nights. And it is outrageous to offer a fan heater as a solution - as if we were staying in a roadside motel. I pointed this out yet again at checkout. We were given a 30% discount. But we didn’t book a room to get a discount. We booked a room to enjoy a luxury Relais Chateaux experience in the exceptional environment of Lake Louise. This hotel failed us miserably. I would never stay here again.

Very nice hotel but occasionally noisy due to passing trains

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

A very comfortable hotel with lots of nice traditional features: cosy quiet areas, lounges, games room and library. Tea and coffee available by reception even though they are also offered in the room. We had a lovely duplex room with dual aspect and good amenities, but despite snuggling into a very comfortable large bed, ear plugs (available in the bedside tables) are essential due to the passing trains day and night. Large bathroom with shower and jacuzzi bath, basin & loo downstairs and loo/basin upstairs – both stocked with nice toiletries. Open fire stacked with logs for when it’s chilly. Lovely bathrobes. Dining room very nice and ok service – we only had breakfast there. My husband opted for the buffet, but I opted for Eggs Benedict which was delicious but arrived late just as my husband was finishing his meal. Expensive, but good to have included refills of tea/coffee and orange juice. Lovely health club with nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna – towels provided. Hotel situated a stone’s throw from the small village of Lake Louise, which offers some good café choices for breakfast and lunch. Very close to must-see sights of Moraine Lake, Lake Louise and the Gondola/Chair Lift. Only downside was The Outpost – advertised as a traditional pub, but more like a noisy overcrowded sports bar. Closed on a Sunday and Monday, we arrived 6pm on Tuesday to be told there was a 40 minute wait for a table + we were told there was no wheelchair access for our friend. We were offered bar menus to use at one of the hotel lounges to eat at a coffee table – not ideal but this was probably better as it was quieter and fairly quick service. Canada was overall very good for wheelchair access, so this was unusual, but should be considered.
