Rimrock Resort Hotel

Disappointing, scruffy hotel. I’ve stayed here many times through the years. It is clear they’ve stopped doing maintenance or taking care of/replacing what needs to be replaced. Our room was worn out and shabby. Furniture chipped and peeling. They moved us to a ‘new’ room in the exact same condition. We were told they are going through an extensive renovation ‘at some point’ in the future. Apparently they’ve just stopped upkeep entirely. The pool area was gross, dirty and the tiles were chipped or missing. The great room also needed maintenance - furniture looked very worn out and chipped. The ol’ gal needs a reno. It seems pretty dishonest for this hotel to charge the rates they do for how poorly kept it is. They should be pre-warning people.

DONT BE TRICKED. We haven't even left the hotel yet but can't wait to write this review to help others. They charged us 40% more than the current room rate, wouldn't refund us the difference, and tried to upsell us $180 more than what we already paid.

The Rimrock is a great place to stay whilst visiting Banff. The location is a little way out of the town but this makes it a nice chilled relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle of Banff. It’s set up the hill with amazing views. The shuttle bus is regular and free from right outside the hotel but if possible the staff will drop you down if they aren’t too busy with check ins. At -27 one evening we were very grateful for them doing this extra service. All the staff without exception were polite and friendly. Everyone chats and shows an interest in where you’re from, how long you’re staying, what activities you are doing. If they can help make your stay any more enjoyable they will. The only thing that was a disappointment was that due to the time of year we stayed they were at approximately 35% occupancy which meant that on the first day we had an amazing buffet breakfast but, from then on it was menu only and wasn’t anywhere near as good or enjoyable. I totally understand their commitment to cutting food waste but I think in a hotel of this standard it let it down. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone coming to Banff for its location and high standards.

Our stay at this hotel was unforgettable, with breathtaking views from the room that made it extra special. A heartfelt thanks to Amrit, the housekeeper, for changing the bedsheets every day without us asking. This thoughtful touch made all the difference, especially since my wife suffers from a dust allergy. Outstanding service that truly stands out!

The Rimrock Hotel is situated on a cliff atop the town of Banff, Alberta with commanding views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I recently enjoyed a four-night stay with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The property features rooms with mountain or forest views, a pool, gym, spa, three restaurants and a café, indoor parking, as well as a large lobby-bar area with a panoramic view. The rooms are modern and well designed, the staff is very kind and helpful (many Australians and British staff members), and the peace and tranquility of this beautiful setting are relaxing. The Banff hot spring is walking distance, while a public bus offers free rides (with ticket from the front desk) to and from the Banff village. The concierge is so helpful —- they recommended to wonderful hikes to Johnston Canyon and Marble Canyon, and the hotel provided complimentary hiking crampons and poles.
