Our hotel is located on the enthralling Langkawi island or sometimes known as Legendary island as it is enshrouded with legends and myths. It is an archipelago of 104 islands overlooking the panoramic Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca. This island derived its name from the abundance of eagles on the island.

Currently at the end of our nine night stay at The Danna, staying in the Princess beach villa with private pool. The villa is absolutely gorgeous and has everything you need. It’s the perfect size for a family of four (children 6 & 9). The pool is a great size but my only complaint would be that it’s not heated. The main building is a beautiful piece of architecture. Breakfast is lovely and there is really something for everyone. The pastries are some of the best I have eaten ever. The Terrace was our favourite for dinner with incredible food! The service is fantastic all round the hotel but our favourite was Azeem at The Terrace. The pool and recreation team were also really fantastic at making sure we had clean towels everyday and keeping the pool clean. We had a dedicated villa manager who was available over WhatsApp and this was a really helpful resource. My son had his birthday here and they were great at setting up some beautiful decoration and cake for him. The team at reception were always very helpful and helped book trips and keep us updated about the cable cars which were constantly being closed and so saving our time going over. I would not recommend the private island hopping trip with Junglewalla that we booked through the hotel. It was terrible, the guide fell asleep on the tour and it was definitely an experience I’m ready to forget! Not the hotels fault at all but maybe they could screen the trips they offer a little better. The jet skiing offered at the hotel was great and we did it a few times. The beach at The Danna is one of the most beautiful I have experienced. Being over at the villa, we have practically had it to ourselves! I would recommend taking the morning walk which they provide weekly with a gentleman named Selva. He has a wealth of knowledge about absolutely everything! It was very enjoyable seeing some birds and monkeys around the property. Overall, we have had an amazing time here and would like to thank the staff for their hard work.

During our last trip to Malaysia we had the opportunity to stay for a week at the Danna Langkawi resort. It was the 3rd resort on Langkawi that we had the opportunity to visit. Right after this resort we were a few more days at The Datai and 4 years earlier at Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons Langkawi. I will write a detailed review of the hotel and its advantages and disadvantages 1. location and surroundings of the resort: The resort is located on the western part of the island, close to the sky bride & Langkawi Cable Car attractions. The surroundings of the hotel are a jetty for motorboats and a beautiful beach. I give this beach 2nd place in my ranking at Langkawi: the first place belongs to Four Seasons with an undisputed 1st place beach. That beach is natural about 300 m long. It is better than in Ritz Carlton however the location of Ritz - as in a natural reserve is amazing . The distance to Cenang Beach is also a big advantage 15 min by car 2. Accommodation: We spent the first 3 days in a large suite on the top floor with a quite large terrace. I rate the interior design 5/10, it is a bit old and there are some aspects that need renovation. We spent the next few days in a villa with a pool. As for the villas, they are in our top 3 villas in resorts that we had the opportunity to stay. The villa is very large - living room, bedroom, wardrobe, bathroom, huge terrace and garden - large swimming pool. The villas are very modern and luxuriously designed and furnished. The design of the villas is same lavel to what was in Ritz Carlton Langkawi / Six senses Seychelles / Ritz Carlton Mandapa in Ubud, Bali. I rate it 9/10, giving only a higher position to Joali in the Maldives. When it comes to comparison with Four Seasons and The Datai villas in The Danna, they are a much better standard and quality. 3. Food: I rate breakfasts in the main hotel building 6/10 - they were not exceptional or memorable. Dinner at the pool restaurant was of high quality and I rate it 8/10 without hesitation. I rate the buffet dinner 6/10. 4. Service: The hotel service leaves the most doubts and requires improvement - it is definitely lower to the standard in Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. Cocktails and drinks at the pool sometimes mean a 30 minute wait and numerous requests for cleaning the room and villa were ineffective. T he water in the pool by the villa was green after 2 days and had no clearence. A huge advantage of the resort is the management - GM Mr. Karran is an exceptional man with high qualifications who actually saved our stay and led to this opinion having 5 stars. If the resort renovates the main pool, especially the stairs that lead to it and improves the design of the pool and garden area, it will be a truly exceptional place. Overall, I rate this resort 2nd place ex ecquo from Four Seasons. It is significantly lower standard to Ritz Carlton but is better than The Datai.

Stayed three nights at The Danna over the new year. The property is impressive in stature, the rooms spacious, beds very comfortable, the grounds well kept. At capacity there are not enough sun beds which resulted in some confrontations during our stay. The food in general is first class both the buffet (wonderful flavours and variety) and The Terrace Italian were superb. Conversely the Asian Penankam was very disappointing serving luke warm food and warm white wine! At the prices The Danna charge this isn’t good enough. We discussed this and an issue with breakfast with the charming Mr Fuad and Mr Khairul who happily compensated us with a comp buffet with wine - a good gesture. We very much enjoyed The Danna it’s worth a visit when in Langkawi.

We had an amazing stay with our family including our pregnant daughter and husband from Australia. The welcome was so friendly and our rooms spectacular. One of the best room views we can remember. The beds are super comfy and gorgeous bathrooms. The food was delicious! Breakfast had anything you wanted from so many different cuisines. Planters changed their dinner buffet regularly and was very tasty. The traditional Malay restaurant was also delicious, soft shell crab and beef rendang standout. The Italian restaurant wasn’t initially what we fancied being European but the food was truly excellent!! It also made a nice contrast. The service throughout was very friendly and they always wanted to help however small. The pool is spectacular and the beach so so pretty. One of the best on the island we think. Just the most relaxing stay thank you so much to all the team at The Danna.

The food was excellent spanning Indian, Malay, Thai and Italian and more. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide range of options with high quality food, with more lesser known dishes and crowd favorites. Very friendly staff and chefs. The beach is beautiful and relaxing.
