Exceptional hotel on a river by a lovely old town. I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband, son and his wife. Our rooms were large and overlooking the river. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. I asked for sheets and blankets in our room as I do not like duvets and it was done immediately. There is a nice sitting area in the room and a spacious bathroom with an extremely useful 7x magnifying mirror. The toilet is closed off from the bathroom. We were provided with kettles on request. There is a nice sitting area with sofa and armchair in the room. There is no air conditioning but they provide a large fan. The room was quite warm on our first night as river facing rooms are south facing so get the sun in the afternoon. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. There were several staff replenishing constantly. As well as the buffet you could choose omelettes and other cooked eggs from a separate menu at no extra cost. The 2 evening 2 meals we had were excellent. These came with a complimentary tasty starter. The extensive spa facilities and indoor/outdoor pool are very good. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Lienz is a lovely small town and the hotel is close to the Grossglockner mountain pass. We came here after 2 days in Slovenia. We will definitely return.

This hotel had the best breakfast options of any hotel. I particularly like the healthy options of a juicer, many fresh fruits and vegetables and wide assortment of yogurts and homemade breads. The staff were exceptional and very accomadationing.

It is truly a grand hotel. Beautiful inside and outside, wonderful staff, very nice restaurant, and beautiful views from the river side balcony of our room. We had a corner room on the fourth floor with two doors that opened up and let in a wonderful breeze. There were upright chairs, a lounge chair, and a table on the balcony. If there’s anything they could improve upon it would be the breakfast breads and pastries, as well as providing the guests with juice instead of the guest having to juice their own oranges (which wasn’t working well).

You expect a 5-star hotel to change towels in the shower, which they didn't Imagine you are in the shower and suddenly there are no towels , I waited to dry off, got dressed and went down to reception to ask for towels Although we stayed for two days, but a normal breakfast, even a 3-star hotel serves the same

A very helpful young lady was on reception late on Sunday afternoon, 16 April. The non std / French Balcony room that we booked was very much as advertised and at 38m2 was large and very comfortable; except for the masses of pretty pillows that are all too soft / thin. A pillow menu please or supply in the room some much firmer bed pillows too. The in room fridge also was not working at all. We quickly turned off the too hot central heating. There is no air con. The bathroom heated towel rail though was appreciated in April. Be aware that while the hotel is non smoking, ashtrays are present on the balconies; so if you have a smoker nearby expect to be inconvenienced. The in room wi-fi worked simply and well. There was a working in room safe. We parked out on the street but this would be a problem with its 90 minute stay limit during business hours Mon-Fri and on Sat morning. Breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order. The hotel’s highly rated dining room was shut for our Sunday night stay. Not much of anything is open in Austria on a Sunday. We ate simply at the Asian Noodle outlet just near the bridge. The Lienz town centre is a 5 min flat walk away across the river. Lienz deserves more than a 1 night stay. I would thus recommend the Grand and it deserves 4+ stars given the above circumstances.
