Reviews for Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade

Highly recommended hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

A beautiful hotel with great staff working in all roles. Lovely rooms with a high standard of daily servicing and turn down in the evening. The restaurant is exceptional in quality. Wonderful location, easy walking distance to the main shopping areas and interesting side streets. My only piece of constructive feedback is that the welcome amenity for Accor Daimond members does not really match the standard that is provided in other Sofitel properties worldwide. The most loyal guests in the Accor Limitless scheme have become accustomed to something more substantial than the small plate of three sweets that was provided. It takes a lot to achieve Diamond status so it would be great if management can review this. Overall, a good stay and I highly recommend this hotel for other travelers whether on business or pleasure.

disappointing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

have stayed here before and the suite was excellent but the hotel has had a revamp and the suite was cramped ,no balcony . the wardrobe space very limited and a hanging rail fixed front to back making it difficult to access clothes and in the furthest corner from the bedroom ,no drawer space, dimly lit, and the bathroom door was in 2 halves and difficult to open and close. booked assistance with luggage when leaving but no one turned up at time so had to manhandle 2 large suitcases + 2 hand luggage ourselves down a v, long corridor to lift. Would not return .It is in the ideal place for sightseeing

Setting unrealistic expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our experience was a bit off putting from the first day we arrived. I had emailed the hotel a month in advance to say we were arriving early - we travelled 20 hours for our honeymoon vacation and I’m 3 months pregnant, so would it be possible to check in early? (We would arrive at 9am but check in wasn’t until 3pm). I said it was so important I’d be happy to pay if needed. The response was that they had made a note and would add us to “urgent priority” for check-in. When we checked in they said the room wasn’t ready but again that we were “urgent priority”. One hour turned into two, turned into 5. I was cranky and tired and uncomfortable. We hadn’t been able to sleep on the flight and desperately needed a nap. At 2:55pm the receptionist called us up and said she was SO HAPPY that she could check us in early. At this point I was just exhausted and pissed off - why tell us you can accommodate an early check in if you know you can’t? If you had said no early check in from the beginning we would have made alternative arrangements but we sat there waiting, every hour they said “only another hour or so!” The hotel itself was comfortable and location was good but this initial experience put us off of the entire stay.

Diamond status with two preauthorisations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Generally nice hotel (although rooms are dark) with a helpful service. Unfortunately there was a problem during check out. Although I have a diamond status I was asked during check in to make preauthorization. It is not a problem for me. During check out I asked to use this preauthorization, that amounted to 2,300 Euros. A lady at the front desk charged less than €50, closed the preauthorization and asked me for payment another €2,000. When I asked why she had not charged the whole amount she just said she is not able to cancel the operation. In consequence, being diamond member (the highest status at accor) I was charged twice and need to await the return from the bank. I find it very unprofessional. I regret I had not refused to pay with another card. The hotel had my money and I was not obligated to credit them once more.

Beautiful property in a top notch location

I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel. First, the location was perfect. You could walk to so many places, and it was a short walk from Rossio station, if you wanted to take a day trip to Sintra. The room and bathroom were beautifully appointed, and the housekeeping was excellent. However, the best part of the stay at the Sofitel was the staff. Christina, at reception was full of ideas and suggestions about things to do and meals. Pedro, the concierge was amazing. He suggested fabulous restaurants for dinner that we never would have found on our own. We ate so well in Lisbon thanks to him. My husband and I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a very classy hotel in an upscale neighborhood.
