Be careful about what you pay for……..!!

Hotel booked though a 5star Luxury Cruise Line as part of a pre cruise package . Good welcome and swift check in , with luggage appearing in our Superior 8th floor room almost immediately. Room not large but well furnished and small adequate bathroom with shower over the bath . Arrival also marked by Staff delivering two small bottle of Port and some mouthwatering custard pies . In early evening we adjourned to the main Lounge on ground floor . Excellent live music and we enjoyed the atmosphere and a light Supper and a drink . After traveling we decided to adjourn and have a early note around 10pm . Here is where any plaudits for the Hotel end . There was deafening heavy metal music right above our bedroom. Unbearable! Sleep impossible. This continued to 12 midnight . Then sounds of furniture could be clearly heard being dragged across the floor above . We were on the 8th floor and on the 9th was the Hotel run Night Club. I asked to see the Manager the next morning. I received an apology and was left with the impression that this was a rare occurrence . 75 Euro bill for extras was waived as a result Small recommence for the 3 hours of sleep lost in a 5 Star Hotel. . Not surprisingly I subsequently met a former Guest here at the Tivoli . He immediately said he hope we hadn’t stayed on the 8th Floor as the noise was just impossible. Just HOW can a Hotel of this quality with any conscience going on selling these room with a Rack Rate of Euros 1000 ?? Breakfast rather a shambles too. We arrived soon after 9am in the restaurant at the back of the Hotel . Not full but asked to go to the one at the front . We did ……only to be refused entry very politely as they were busy and go to the one at the back we had just left . Here I insisted we were seated . We had a reasonable breakfast there . Mainly Buffet style but hot items cooked to order . All very disappointing. .

Incredible vacation to Portugal

We stayed here 3 nights and it was such a beautiful hotel. Very clean and comfortable and according to my daughter, they have the best Caesar Salad in the bar area. Pedro Ferreira, the Front Office Agent, took very good care of us as well. He was one of the nicest people that we met. We highly recommend staying here!

It was okay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is a bit dated and could benefit from an update. Staff generally were friendly but seemed a bit disorganised , eg getting a black tea with milk could be slow in the main bar area, all clocks were not updated for daylight saving a week after, housekeeping seemed to be a bit disorganised in the number of towels left each day, the breakfast buffet food was average. The front office Ambassador Pedro Ferreira was a standout however. Pedro knew I was waiting on a parcel (which in the end failed to arrive before we left) and followed up with me every time he saw me apologising that the parcel hadn't arrived. The hotel is in good location.

Excellent Service from Hugo Soares 5*

We received amazing service by Hugo Soares, he was very friendly and informative providing us with places to go and things to do while we stayed in the city. He also was able to arrange a table for our large group at the rooftop bar. He is such an asset to your hotel!
