Tucked away on a tree-lined court between Harrods and Sloane Square, Eleven Cadogan Gardens was the first of London's private luxury town house hotels. This refined boutique property, which occupies four stately Victorian houses, maintains a very English and understated style in traditional wood-paneled guestrooms hung with oil paintings and furnished with antiques. Here you'll cross into a unique atmosphere, where a butler discreetly meets you at the door, and instead of registering, you're invited to sign a leather-bound visitors' book.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea, with excellent service by Saiful! The food and pastry was very tasty. All in all, we had a good time. The drawing room is a very beautiful location for the afternoon tea. It is very characteristic. The hotel itself is at a beautiful location as well.

Needing a little upgrade, this was the third time we’d stayed at this hotel, but this time it felt ever so slightly’shabby’ . When we arrived there was no doorman, it seems he is now doing many other jobs within the hotel ( felt like cost cutting). There was no recognition of us having stayed there twice previously when we checked in, which would’ve been nice. We did change rooms after the first night as the suite we had booked felt small and cramped, but they were very accommodating in finding us a better room and we were happy with that. The water in the shower wasn’t very hot and you had to wait til later when I suppose peak period was over. Although the room was comfortable and spacious, ( an executive suite ) I think it’s time for a refresh of furniture etc, comfort and quaint is one thing but a little more is required here. The other thing I’d like to remark on is the absence of a mini fridge ! Why oh why , plenty of bottles of water are supplied , but having to call room service for a cold drink is inconvenient. Anyway, we won’t stay again, even though the location is terrific, some things need to be addressed particularly as it definitely on the higher end of the daily rate scale.
