About the Hotel

Tucked into a tiny alleyway off St. James' Place, Dukes Hotel is quintessential Britain – it dates from 1908, but the interior is modern and the atmosphere is convivial. Impressive oil paintings and dark antique furniture preside alongside brightly upholstered settees, and beds are renowned for being incredibly comfortable. You’ll want to down one of the martinis at Dukes Bar, said to be the inspiration behind James Bond's request for "shaken, not stirred."

Afternoon Tea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Afternoon tea disappointing, very expensive for what you receive. Daughter had vegan which she didn’t really enjoy the 4 small sandwiches she received. Got bottle of water which was suppose to be included but was charged £6 didn’t realise till I looked at bill once home. Unfortunately I had forgotten my glasses. Service not very professional girls giggling while serving. Total cost £231 for what I would say a very small afternoon tea, wasn’t offered anything extra. 3 of us wouldn’t recommend as not worth the money. Desert was probably the best part of it even then they weren’t anything special.

Perfection in London

Dukes is one of the great small hotels of the world. In the heart of London it is an oasis of peace. Exemplary service, delicious food and great rooms. It is a timeless classical hotel where the client is the most important. I can highly recommend this wonderful place. I cannot wait to return.

60th Birthday tea with friends

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

What a superb hotel. This was my first visit here and first ever tea out. Can’t believe it took so long when tea was my favourite meal as a child. I had the vegan menu and this was every bit as creative and pretty as the normal menu. They served a lovely sparkling tea for their non alcohol beverage. But over and above the delight that we gained from tea at Dukes was my gratitude for the support and kindness given to my friend in the mobility scooter. Nothing was too much trouble in ensuring her support during our visit. Thank you so much to the staff for a wonderful afternoon. I am sure we will find again.

Birthday treats

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed mid week for my birthday. The staff were very welcoming and left me some surprises for my birthday too which was a really nice touch. They couldn't do more for you honestly. The actual room was nice, not too spacy but I suppose that comes with the territory of being where they are. Loved the quick access to Jermyn street and other places. The actual hotel looked a bit tired in places. Great service at the bar as usual, we have been for drinks before. There was a service charge which we were happy to pay as we thought it was worth it. Thank you Dukes London for making my birthday special.

Oasis in Central London

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The historic ambience and location, combined with knowledgeable and delightful staff, especially Jose, made for a special return trip. Dukes was comfortable and central and was perfect for our various outings, either by foot, tube or taxi. And of course we visited the infamous Dukes Bar twice for special experiences.
