Shame I couldn’t give it a five this time

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Previously I would have rated this a five. We have stayed in this hotel at least twice a year since it first opened and even had our family stay there for my birthday last summer but there seem some obvious cost saving going on. When we first arrived, we noticed an empty water carafe with glasses. When I telephoned to say I thought housekeeping had forgotten to fill it, I was told that if we wanted water I would need to go to a water station by the lift to fill it (we were at the end of a lengthy corridor). In a five star hotel, one would expect, at least a carafe to welcome us and perhaps a note to explain how we could get more . Also this time we were on the 12th floor and it proved almost impossible to get access to the internet. Wouldn’t stay on that floor again especially facing the OXO tower. Finally, I had Caesar salad for dinner one night which included named ingredients as Parmesan, Anchovies and Croutons. When I pointed out there were no anchovies, I was told they were in the dressing. Small point, but they shouldn’t have listed them in the main ingredients and added an anchovy dressing (it tasted like an ordinary Caesar salad dressing). Breakfast now has no smoked salmon or fruit salad. On the plus side, staff were still as friendly and efficient as ever. The beds are some of the best we’ve slept in. Lovely convenient location

The curse liner, award-winning food outlets and an electric energy, the Sea Container London is the remarkable South Bank hotel. My large suite with reminiscent 1920 transatlantic liners - air king beds, dimmable lighting, bespoke furniture and an ensuite market bathroom. Sea Container Restaurant seems large and small plates. tran

Best hotel on the banks of the river. Convenient for tube or walking the Southbank. Rooms clean and roomy. Always stay here in January. Staff very friendly as always. Normally get an upgrade but able to this year unfortunately but hopefully back next year

Great hotel with river skyline views!

Beautiful relaxing hotel on the river with fabulous views, great staff and yummy restaurant. Good rooftop bar with amazing views and a lovely relaxing bar and Lounge on the ground floor - this is our go to hotel every time we are in London, which is a lot! Has a gym and cinema and it’s a place to play but also relax - we are in our late 60’s now and even though it has a young lively rooftop bar and vibe - we never feel out of place but right at home. It is welcoming to families and folks of all ages and is a lovely luxury place to stay without the enormous price tag.

What a shame they can't get there act together!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed here for New Years Eve and booked the ultimate package, which included champagne and canapés and cost £1009 I had an email the night before telling me they cancelled my booking and I hadn't paid . Great, start! So I had to prood id paid. Check-in was smooth and quick. Room was lovely view was great fir fireworks. Champagne was good, canapés were poor. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. Speciality coffee was cold. On checking out, we were told we owe £95 for room service 20 for service 75 for champagne! This should have been in with the package, so I questioned this, and they agreed and sorted. On arriving home, we received 3 emails. All invoices 1 ,to pay for the service/champagne, which was included in the NYE package! 2, I didn't make head or tail of! 3, telling us we used the mini bar and charged us £4. Which we definitely did not. What a shambles this hotel really needs to get there act together! Takes the enjoyment out of it,having to sort all this out! Let's just hope we get out deposit back. Definitely won't be back.
