Reviews for The Stafford London

Very nice hotel, slow food service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I was greatly looking forward to my stay at the Stafford. Most of the stay was fine, but the big detraction from the experience was the slow (really slow) breakfast service. It took a good 15 minutes just to get served coffee, and then another 15-20 for main course. There was no buffet so we were at the mercy of the wait staff, who seemed very busy talking among themselves but not offering much service to guests. The food, once served, was quite good. The American Bar dining was much better, though again, it took a while to get the attention of wait staff. In-room breakfast was also painfully slow and delivered late, so that's not a great option either. The after-dinner main bar was quite nice though wine by the glass was very limited and way overpriced. The room was serviceable, though remarkably, very inaccessible. A step down was needed to get to the bathroom, and no one in their right mind would go into the tub, which was 2 feet below the level of the floor. Shower stall also had some precarious aspects with yet another step down, though not quite as scary as the tub. The staff were generally friendly, and the property is clean and well-maintained. But if you need to get out in the morning in a hurry, this is not the place to stay.

London at its Best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have been there four times. The location is ideal. The staff is flawless. The rooms are beautiful- and comfortable. The restaurant serves a terrific breakfast and a a wonderful dinner. The American Bar is both American and very British- living history and lively casual food. Only a few steps from St James’s Palace, here everyone is treated royally- and as family. In the past, we have stayed at the Connaught, Claridge’s, the Four Seasons, and Brown’s. This is now home we are in London. We would not stay anywhere else.

Another PERFECT 10 day Birthday Celebration at The Stafford!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Stafford is a truly special hotel. It is located in a quiet alcove just a 5 minute walk to the Green station tube. My husband and I have been celebrating my birthday in London at The Stafford for the past 11 years (except during COVID). Our stay was perfect the first year… and it got even better as the years went on. How can perfect get better you might ask… It’s all about the people and the service. Each year we look forward to reuniting with the staff. Upon arrival we look forward to being greeted by Alex, with his Scottish brogue and Nick with his bowler hat, with the words, “welcome home!” Two steps inside the door we see Tom, the concierge, with his wonderful smile and twinkling eyes. He is adept at getting theatre tickets and dinner reservations…and has a fund of knowledge about London. Sometimes we go downstairs in order to chat with him. This year we met Oscar for the first time. He is at the reception desk and was incredibly helpful to us - getting us settled and throughout our stay. The rooms at The Stafford are wonderful; very cozy and well apportioned. This year our room had a fireplace and was decorated with Chinese porcelain. Although an older hotel (it’s where the Queen’s Ladies in Waiting resided) all of the amenities and touches were completely modern. The bed and down comforter are luxurious and the large, fluffy warm towels and robes are sumptuous! Housekeeping kept our room immaculate and were very extremely attentive to our needs. As always, to welcome us and celebrate my birthday there was a bottle of champagne and a piece of birthday cake on the desk in our room. The food at the Stafford is wonderful. Breakfasts are amazing. Midway during our visit the printed menu changed. The only “imperfection” in the new menu was that it didn’t include the wonderful cinnamon French toast and Belgian waffles made in the style of the previous menu. The breakfast staff is very professional, attentive and charming. Monika welcomed us almost every morning, Giacomo with his incredible smile and Italian charm, PK with his efficiency and Alberto who was attuned all of our needs. We always save our bottle of champagne and bring it down for dinner on our last night and exchange it for a chilled bottle, and have dinner at the Game Bird. David, the charming and knowledgable maître d’ reserved an intimate table for us and helped us select our food. I had the chicken liver pate and a fabulous poached lobster and my husband had an incredible beef tartare and the Creedy Carver chicken. For desert we had the Crepes Suzette. You couldn’t imagine a more perfect dinner, birthday celebration or stay at the Stafford! This year we stayed at the Stafford for ten days and next year we plan on staying at least two weeks!

A great stay

The staff was great. Fantastic location! The room was spacious and well appointed. The American Bar was really cool. Overall experience was 10/10. I would highly recommend the Stafford to anyone visiting London. Pro tip... it is also next to the Tube, so airport access is awesome.

It's all about the staff at The Stafford! My favorite hotel in London and probably in the world! If you can't stay there stop by the bar...not to be missed. Look it up when you're there.

My cousin and I had the most fabulous trip! The Stafford London was the most perfect, wonderful hotel, and we could not be any happier!

The staff was amazing, and yes, please let Alan and Nick know how much they helped us, as this was my very first trip to London!

We so appreciated the perks, and enjoyed the wine in our room!
