Had an amazing afternoon tea. Emma and Avalyn were awesome and gave us the best service. Super friendly and one of the best experiences. Made our weekend. We love the Hotel and restaurant. What a lovely place to stay for the day. Thanks Emma and Avalyn.

Such a lovely hotel. Beautifully decked out for Christmas. Close to Trafalgar Square and public transportation. There is a cooling drawer in room. It is not recommended for refrigeration. But the staff kindly stored some items for us. Umbrellas were provided for the rainy day. Highly recommend.

Our stay at Great Scotland Yard Hotel was, unfortunately, a significant letdown. Despite the hotel’s reputation and promise of a luxury experience, several critical aspects fell well below expectations. The issues began with the check-in process. Our booking confirmation clearly stated a 2pm check-in time, but upon arriving slightly early, we were informed the room wasn’t ready—fair enough. We were assured we’d receive a text when the room became available. By 4:30pm, after spending a chilly and rainy afternoon exploring the city, we still hadn’t heard anything. Cold, wet, and eager to settle in, we returned to the hotel only to wait again for the lone front desk staff member to finish assisting other guests. When it was finally our turn, we were told the room had “just” become ready—nearly two and a half hours past the supposed check-in time. When I questioned this, mentioning the 2pm check-in indicated on our booking confirmation, the staff member curtly corrected me, claiming check-in was actually 3pm. Even so, it was nearly 5pm—well beyond any acceptable timeframe for a luxury hotel. At the initial check-in, we opted to add the £30-per-person breakfast to our stay. However, after reflecting on the disastrous late check-in, we decided we didn’t want to give the hotel any more of our money and asked to cancel the breakfast. It wasn’t until this point that the manager stepped in and offered to comp the breakfast as compensation for the confusion about the 2pm versus 3pm check-in time. This gesture came with no acknowledgment or apology for the fact that our room wasn’t ready until nearly 5pm, leaving us feeling further undervalued as guests. The room itself was another disappointment. Basic expectations for cleanliness and service were not met. There was no turn-down service during our stay, and the housekeeping was subpar, with noticeable dirt left on the floor. These oversights are unacceptable in a hotel that markets itself as a premium destination. The one bright spot in our stay was Eunique, the warm and gracious hostess in the breakfast restaurant. Her genuine hospitality and charm stood out and provided a much-needed positive moment during an otherwise disheartening visit. Ultimately, Great Scotland Yard Hotel failed to deliver on its promise of luxury. Poor service, lack of attention to detail, and a dismissive attitude toward guest concerns overshadowed any potential redeeming qualities. Sadly, we would not choose to return.

We stayed here as locals to enjoy the West End Christmas lights and some festive experiences. The location is fabulous and the quirky design details really impressive, echoing the police heritage of Scotland Yard. We loved the sumptuous room, free soft drink minibar and stylish teal tiled bathroom... but.... On check in we were both required to show ID and as locals not carrying passports had to loudly tell her my date of birth, somewhat embarrassing in a public space as a woman of a certain age! The free minibar was a great idea but the fridge didn't work, a common problem according to the staff member we asked. The gorgeous bathroom has British style but oddly an incredibly complicated Japanese toilet whose tilted warmed seat starts to whirr as you sit down, disconcerted. There's a whole remote control of options for it which we didn't dare try. I can't imagine how much maintenance and repair this odd contraption will need as the years roll by and I missed having a normal loo. There's a motion activated nightlight in the bathroom but it switched off after two seconds and wasn't triggered by movement on that curious loo! And finally breakfast food was exemplary but the restaurant space is too tight for a buffet format with no space for people to move around or push chairs back. All silly little niggles that should be easy to fix to help this stylish gem of a hotel really shine. We loved its location next door to the Corinthia and Raffles OWO, both carrying prices double those of GSYard so we made the right choice here
