A 19th-century beauty meets the London of today: that’s what you’ll find at Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel. From the outside, the landmark building, which occupies a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, looks every bit the part of grande dame. Inside, though, contemporary interiors beckon the discerning traveler to settle in and stay a while—Negroni (or two) in hand. Live like a Londoner on Russell Square. With one foot in the city’s past and another in its present, our Bloomsbury location combines British creative heritage with modern amenities.Presiding gracefully over Russell Square, with a stylish restaurant, Champagne and afternoon tea lounge, a cafe, destination cocktail bar and gym, our 334-room hotel turns every event into a memorable occasion. With a nod to 20s glamour and British irreverence, such as the Kit Miles cushions depicting our resident dragon, Lucky George, each luxuriously styled bedroom by Tara Bernerd & Partners beautifully reflects the rich history of our iconic hotel. Uniquely Kimpton in-room extras include a mug featuring George the dragon and yoga mat to help you feel at home.

Jack was a terrific help at assisting our group with finding locations for dinner and very welcoming. The room left much to be desired. Even though it looked nice there was no place to put your things. The luggage rack was useless. The giant mirror on the wall was a hazard to get around. The movable glass panel in the tub nearly caused a fall. At the very least grab bars should be added to assist getting in and out of the tub. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable.

We stayed 3 nights & the room, staff & food were great, which for the price paid is to be expected. We have stayed here several times in the past as we like the convenient location & (generally) the rooms, although some are quite small/quirky due to the age & layout of the building. We were however rather dismayed this time to find that the hotel has now jumped on the bandwagon & started adding a ‘discretionary’ 5% service charge on to bills at checkout. Apart from the fact that in the UK all hotel charges should be made clear in the pricing structure, & this is not mentioned on booking, we prefer to recognise & reward any staff who have gone ‘above and beyond’ ourselves & not suddenly find a charge has been added to our bill. It is discretionary & we declined to pay it, which anyone is entitled to do, although I assume it is sprung on guests at checkout in the hope they will be too embarrassed to refuse! This leaves a bad taste & on our next visit to London we will be staying in a different hotel.

The Kimpton Fitzroy is my favorite location in the whole Kimpton portfolio (and I've been to MANY of them). I truly consider this my home away from home and I always make a concerted effort to stay here when I'm in London. The hotel itself is in a great, convenient location and is absolutely stunning, both the general public spaces (that lobby!), and the rooms themselves. From the marble, to mosaic tile, to hardwood floors... it's always so clean, so posh, so elegant. However, that is nothing compared to the stellar staff at this hotel. From the familiar faces greeting me at the door, to the insightful concierge, to the front desk staff welcoming me back home. Today was no exception. I have to give a very special shout-out to Lottie, who kindly assisted me this morning. I had a delayed red eye from Miami and sat in nearly two hours of traffic from Heathrow, so I was beyond exhausted upon arrival. Lottie greeted me with such a sunny disposition and kind smile, which already put me in a better mood. She is a miracle worker and was able to get me quite an early check-in to my room and, more importantly, secured me with a gorgeous suite, given my Diamond Elite/Inner Circle status. I cannot begin to tell you how much that made my day. Lottie was a godsend and really made me feel like a VIP. I'm so appreciative of the extra effort and how wonderfully the whole Fitzroy staff takes care of their guests. Best hotel in London - hands down!

It’s a good 5 stars hotel near Russel Square with excellent transportation options to get around London. The underground station is just around the corner from the hotel and multiple bus stops in nearby. Waitrose and Tesco supermarkets are near to the hotel with a lot of restaurants and cafes around too. The location is the star of this hotel. The room size is very small so don’t put high expectations for a big room which was one of the downsides for us. The breakfast was good and the service during the breakfast was excellent we enjoyed but we recommend to change the buffet items from day to day so guests staying for long time don’t get bored 😅 The reception staff did their best to give us a good stay but my upset point that I didn’t get upgraded to a bigger room as IHG Platinum member (so if you’re a member don’t expect high). The hotel rate is in the expensive side so take this into consideration when booking. Another downside I didn’t like was the hotel service charge which was about 5% they add to the bill when checking out so when booking consider this to the total cost. Overall, it was a good stay mainly for the location and the nearby restaurants and shops.
