Here, the creative vision of Kelly Wearstler seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence and local art. Essentials include two destination restaurants in partnership with James Beard Award-winning L.A. chef Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne (Lucques, a.o.c., Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine, Larder Baking company); an intimate library-lounge, a city-view rooftop pool and lounge-bar-restaurant. A Perfect Getaway!
We had a little staycation for our wedding anniversary on Easter weekend and had the most amazing time. The staff, especially Vanessa, made the trip extra special for us and were very accommodating. We cannot recommend both restaurants enough. Every single bite and sip was delicious, and the rooftop pool was very zen. Great music too!

First time visit
One of the best customer service I've ever had in any of the hotels I've stayed at. It's a walking distance to clothing/shoe stores which makes the location great. And I had one of the best brunch in the hotel restaurant! Highly recommended!!

Attentive staff and beautiful rooms, will stay here again
The Downtown Proper has the feel of a far more expensive and excusive hotel. While Downtown LA is not my favorite location, I would stay here again. I was especially appreciative that the staff upgraded our reservation without any request or prompting. I highly recommend.

Does not disappoint!
A grand experience in every way! There is nothing better than a great boutique hotel with a wonderful restaurant! It will always be The Proper for me! Wonderful beds for a proper sleep. Complete with crisp, pressed sheets. Well-stocked larder, complete with my favorite chips! The room service is excellent, as well as!

Ana is excellent
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel! The view from my room was absolutely stunning, making my experience even more memorable. I also want to highlight Ana's exceptional room service—she was attentive and made sure all my needs were met. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great stay!
