With city lights and vintage brick as a backdrop, Proper re-imagines and updates an historic Broadway Corridor landmark into a 148-room destination hotel. Here, the creative vision of Kelly Wearstler seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence and local art. Essentials include two destination restaurants in partnership with James Beard Award-winning L.A. chef Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne (Lucques, a.o.c., Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine, Larder Baking company); an intimate library-lounge, a city-view rooftop pool and lounge-bar-restaurant. Especially Proper are two singular, one-of-a-kind suites fashioned from the basketball court and indoor pool of the building’s sporting club past.

One of my first dates with my bf was at Caldo Verde & Cara Cara so we decided to come back and stay at the hotel this time. I'm a big fan of Kelly Wearstler so loved the decor & design of every detail. Service was top notch with valet, check in, bartender, servers, housekeeping. Everyone was so friendly and nice. Really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back.

This is one of my favorite LA Hotels! The vibe is on point, the rooms are spacious and comfy, and the roof top bar is the place to be. But what I love most is the service and the Team Members that do such an amazing job at anticipating needs and delivering exceptional customer service. In particular, I would hire the housekeeping Team Members who have taken care of me if I had open positions. They are so impressive and go out of their way to make your time away from home feel special. Awesome job LA Proper...I can't wait to see you again!

I had such a great experience at this hotel. Everyone was very helpful and welcoming. Victoria, my server at Cara Cara was so attentive and friendly. I have not had this kind of service in years. She made me feel so welcomed and at home. I had the worst day, delayed flights, trouble with uber, and Victoria completely changed my day. Thank you so much! Give that girl a raise!!

This review is about the Dahlia tea room. From the moment we arrived, my mom, grandma, and I felt like movie stars. The staff assisted my grandma out of the car, welcomed us, and led us to our table. The room is cozy and peaceful with calming jazz music. Our waitress was seriously, the best I've ever had. The service began with a tea-smelling experience!! I have never experienced this before, it was so fun to learn about each tea offered, and the notes of scents they had. Our waitress even told us each tea she thought we would like based on our personalities! Then, I was surprised by the gorgeous tower of sandwiches, treats, and scones (see picture). They even had a custom "Happy Birthday" chocolate on the top of the tower to celebrate my birthday!! This tea was stunning and the food was delectable! I was very impressed by the gold flakes on the chocolate cream puff, rich mint chocolate eclairs, and flavorful sandwiches. They were very accommodating with a shellfish allergy. The decor is desert chic with unique art and accents. I appreciated the special attention we received, which made it feel like a luxurious experience. I would recommend Dahlia tea service to anyone! It would be great for families, couples, friends, or even a solo tea time. Thank you LA Proper Hotel and Dahlia staff for making this time with my family one I will always cherish!

Top-notch service. Convenient location. Beautiful hotel and well designed rooms. I had a really great experience at this hotel. I arrived early Saturday am jet lagged and exhausted. Amber at the front desk somehow expedited an upgraded room for me despite the hotel being sold out that day. And she even had my bag waiting for me when I got to it. Oh and they gave me free deodorant when I realized I forgot mine. The hotel is right in the middle of DTLA. The neighborhood is rough but that’s LAs fault, not the hotel. You are super close to Dodger stadium and the metro. Restaurants have good food albeit pricey which is to be expected. The rooftop is gorgeous with fantastic views and drinks. Service from everyone I encountered was also top notch. Highly recommended stay, particularly for Bonvoy members!
