One-Star Review for The Kimpton Palomar Los Angeles My stay at The Kimpton Palomar Los Angeles was disappointing from start to finish. Before arriving, I called the hotel to inquire about parking and access to car chargers. I was told there was a $48 per day parking fee and that chargers were available, which seemed reasonable at first. I also inquired about room upgrades but was surprised to learn I was speaking with a call center, not hotel staff. While not a huge issue, it was an unexpected inconvenience. Upon arrival, the staff at the front desk was polite and knowledgeable. I was again informed of the parking fee and assured there were chargers available in the parking structure. However, when I tried to use them, I discovered an unexpected $20 activation fee and the need to sign up through an app. This was not disclosed earlier, and I suspect there's an additional per-kWh charge. Paying $48 per day for parking plus $20 just to activate the charger is excessive and felt like a blatant money grab. For dinner, I visited the hotel restaurant, Double Take, at 4 PM. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only five patrons. I was seated quickly and provided menus. I asked my waitress about a happy hour menu, and she promptly brought it to me. While the initial service was fine, that was the last interaction I had with her. No one checked on me, offered refills, or provided any additional service, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I felt unwelcome and, sadly, like I wasn't being treated equally based on my ethnicity. This was a deeply upsetting experience and something I've never encountered before. To top it all off, when I returned to my room that evening, I realized there was no microwave in the room. When I asked the front desk if there was a way to heat up food, I was told it would cost $25 to have a microwave brought to my room. This is absurd. After already feeling neglected and additional fees for parking and charging, this was the last straw. I ended up not eating my last day. Between the unhelpful staff, excessive fees, lack of amenities, and the unwelcoming atmosphere, my experience was terrible. I will never stay at The Kimpton Palomar Los Angeles or any Kimpton property again.

A huge thank you to the entire team at Hotel Palomar Beverly Hills! Checkin with Jamaya (sp?) was smooth and personable and really set the tone for a wonderful stay. Also a big shout out to the team that was working last night, the same person who helped me with my car for quick 10-minute turnaround for dinner. Also brought up the amenity later in the evening, I think his name is Adriana. On departure, Kate ing. Was very helpful with the bags getting into our ride, and we had a leftly checkout and took advantage of the great grab-and-go station to bring some wine back home. As a platinum elite member, we had a nice high floor and a beautiful view of the surrounding area, facing the Mormon church. Regardless of your views, it did make a nice Skyline. Bathrooms are perfectly adequate, if I had to make one critique, it would be that the shower head is a bit low for those people that are tall, above 6 ft 2. The shower pressure, however, was great with a speakman shower head. The room was very clean and I could not find a single thing out of place or any dust anywhere - compliments to the housekeeping team. It is great that you can tip via phone and text as well, make sure you do so by scanning the QR code by the bedside table 🙂. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you again!

We have stayed here twice now on our family LA vacations. It’s a really nice hotel. As I always do for Tripadvisor readers, I’ve put a walkthrough/ review video on YouTube so you can get a better idea of what it’s like. Just search ‘wakeywarrior’ (all one word) to find it. We always get a 1 bed suite which gives us enough room. The best thing about the hotel is location- safe area, walk out to Westwood Village with all its restaurants, bars, cinema etc. Also very quick to get on the highway, and quick as well to Santa Monica. Like the free drinks at 5. Parking garage is large and very convenient. Only thing we do not like are all the taxes (not the hotel’s fault but the crazy system in California) and the fees like the $35 for rollaway, $50 or whatever for parking, resort fee or whatever they call it. You end up paying nearly twice as much overall as the headline rate when you book the hotel online. This would be totally unacceptable in the U.K., but seems to be the norm in California. I do wish the hotel went easier on its extra fees.

Very disappointed in my one night stay. Had to wait 15 minutes to check in. Standard room is comfortable, but small. Pool is lousy. Narrow, in the shade by 230pm, a total of maybe 5 chairs at most. Worst of all, I was leaving in the morning at 530am and wanted some coffee before the long drive ahead of me. So I asked for a Keurig machine to be delivered to my room, which they advertise. Front desk says "no problem". Three hours later when I return from dinner, no coffee maker. I call the front desk and get put on hold for over 20 minutes. I go to the front desk, and there are 5 people waiting in line at 930pm. So I give up. This is the service you get in a hotel with rooms over $400/night? The check out person was very apologetic and he did remove the parking charge from my bill, but this is just not acceptable. Won't be back.

This is a decent hotel in a good location. Pros: Pillows - your option of down or foam or both, bed was comfortable, location is great, staff are lovely, if you forget something they go out of their way to help, and are generally friendly and helpful. Cons: no coffee at all after 10 am; bathroom/shower were minimal, though bath products are good, parking is $50 a night. Hotels in this area are expensive and this is a pretty good one for a lot less.
