Reviews for The Brown Hotel

Old world elegance!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

What a beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel has all the refinement and elegance of a bygone era that is so difficult to find today. We enjoyed the beautiful lobby bar with live music. After which we dined and enjoyed the world famous Kentucky Browns. Delicious! Our room was large and comfortable. Appointed beautifully with lush fabrics and antiques. The bath soaps were so lovely, I ordered some for my home on my return home. The staff was warm and accommodating.

A historical location that's well maintained, beautiful and worth a visit. Comfortable to stay at and location is not bad.

Wonderful experience station in such a classic location. Beautifully decorated inside with stunning architecture and gorgeously appointed. Everything just comes across as classy. The bar on the 2nd floor was a favorite hangout. The bartender James H. had fantastic recommendations for places to try nearby and makes a mean Manhattan. We found a fantastic Cuban place and a really good shots bar thanks to him. The desk staff were also very nice, efficient and made check in and check out very easy. While I really liked our valet guys I'd avoid that next time as the $38 daily charge is a little steep. Our room was very large, the bed very comfortable, and the TV very nice. However it does not have a fridge which was a huge disappointment for all the leftovers we had from some great Louisville restaurants. It's also an older building and has the soundproofing of a cheap Hilton. You will hear your neighbors and at least on the weekend we were there, the nightclub nearby. Nothing a white noise machine or leaving the TV on won't solve but just be aware if you are a light sleeper like me. If you have a minute be sure to visit the rooftop patio and watch the planes come right over you.

A World Class Hotel is in Louisville KY!

This was a wonderful way to begin a Christmas vacation while on our way to MI to visit family. We booked 2 nights (corner room w windows on two sides (lovely & comfy) so we could relax, then enjoy & explore Louisville. The Bourbon City package we purchased included a Bourbon Flite & the famous Hot Brown (more later). Most importantly: valet parking, a great perk plus the added bonus of using the Brown shuttle was special too! Our driver was terrific & suggested a local Italian restaurant that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a most enjoyable dinner at the Brown our first night. The Brown Hotel’s famous Hot Brown is not to be missed! I’m not ashamed to say I enjoyed it at breakfast (half order, only)

Hello….2025

The New Year brunch was FABULOUS! Not to mention, who could ever eat here without enjoying the Hot Brown? Five stars is not enough to rate this restaurant. The absolute best part of our experience was the service provided by Lydia C. She was attentive, informative, extremely pleasant. The entire experience was a perfect way to start off 2025.

Charm-History and Comfort!

What a charming place. Such an old historic hotel without feeling “old”. The service is friendly. The rooms are so much nicer than a standard hotel. They are larger in size and so comfortable. They feel as if you’re staying a grandmother’s guest room with beautiful art, furniture, and a comfortable four poster bed. The bathrooms are large in size and very well done. The bars and restaurants are fantastic! Amazing bourbon drinks of course! Tasting the famous Hot Brown is a must. They even offer a petit size now. Charm- history and comfort!
